Cleanliness. Would be great if we can have shower curtains and typical continental breakfast such as mushrooms, scrambled eggs, hashbrown.

We were surprised when we arrived at the hotel that the young man who gave us our key didn’t offer to carry my case up two flights of stairs, through three fire doors and then down a few more steps. We are both in our eighties and my husband has two replacement knees, The main reason we can’t give a good review is that on arriving at the room, I put our wet bag in the bathroom and there was a turd in the toilet. Not nice. Being English we didn’t make a fuss just left a day early but you can see why we won’t be returning.

I chose Hotel Vara as I needed a venue with a private dining room which they offer much more reasonably priced than alternative hotels in the area

Room was cold on arrival and basic in its offer. But comfortable and very clean.

What a find in the middle of Truro! Gorgeous building & decor, nothing was too much for our host. My friend was taken ill in the early hours & I was even given a little breakfast bag to take with me to the hospital. We will highly recommend

Very very dated. In desperate need of modernisation. Particularly the bedrooms

My first night here was terrible. I was given Room 8, which was cold, had no proper mattress, and the washing sink was oddly placed outside the bathroom. The shower cabin was awful, and overall this room should never be given to any customer. I spoke with the staff, and thankfully one of them was kind enough to move me the next day to a proper, warm room with a better shower. Breakfast was very poor – the coffee machine was “on holiday,” and the only things available were a croissant, an egg you have to boil yourself, some bread, and tea and some fruits.

Available parking, clean room, small but functional the en suite was very good, great shower. The staff are lovely, friendly and professional- breakfast was fabulous- good choice even the ability to boil your own eggs - a great touch. I had a light meal in the evening which was delicious I’ll definitely stay again

Not good if you have mobility issues. Lots of stairs and long walk to room. Shower over bath with no shower curtain so floor got very wet.

Great hotel not too long a walk from the centre of town. Very good breakfast, enjoyed the selection. Bit of a trek up 2 flights of stairs but not an issue that would stop me booking again.

Good service and friendly staff

What a lovely hotel. The staff are a credit to you Couldn't do enough for us and always with a smile. Our room was perfect in all ways as was the hotel itself. Breakfast gave us a well thought out menu and the food first class. Would definitely visit again.

Overall stay ok. Staff was very nice and helpful. Room a bit tired. Breakfast a bit poor unless you pay extra.

I liked the laid back atmosphere of the hotel, allowing guests to enjoy their time as they please.

Overall good place to stay. Needs improve food quality, too small portions.
