The staff were helpful and polite. However, for a £150 room, it was tired with a badly maintained 1960's feel, peeling wallpaper and simple furniture. No air conditionin and with the window open, it was still too warm. The 'library public room' on the way to our guest room is being rebuilt, giving a feel of a building site. Our room, no. 423 was close to a fire door which was constantly banging with guests moving about. Overall it was functional but I don't recommend it and won't be staying there again.

Location excellent for attractions. Reception was nice and a bit quirky. Room was a bit bland although recently refurbished. Breakfast was adequate. Air conditioning in the room would have been nice, a fan was provided. If the temperature had been any warmer it could have been a problem. We managed to get free parking at the front of the hotel which was a bonus, spaces were limited.

The room was very clean and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. We stayed just one night and had to leave early before breakfast was served, but we were provided with an excellent pack up with tea. Will definitely stay there again en route to ferry crossings.

The hotel in certain area’s is being renovated which didn’t effect our stay even though we had to pass through part of it to get to our room . Wasn’t a problem. Our room was immaculately kept . Housekeeping would have extra work to do keeping areas clean but they are keeping on top of it . Well done . Breakfast was great with a good choice . I managed to get parked on the front which was handy . We had an excellent stay . Would definitely stay there again.

Room was ok but in desperate need of refurbishment, good breakfast. We were lucky to get parking but staff were very helpful.

Great old fashioned hotel and the recetionists were so helpful

Visited whilst they are under some form of renovation, so lifts weren't working and it was a maze trying to find our rooms as there were no signs up. Lot's of construction mess everywhere. Breakfast was pretty poor, sausages seemed to have been cooked for 5days as they were tough as anything. Best thing was the evening meal in the restaurant, very nice food. The staff were all very polite and helpful. Stayed here as we were visiting the historic dockyards and the location was perfect for this.

Excellent 2-night stay. The hotel was clean and bright, the breakfast was hot and well-stocked, and the staff friendly and helpful. Great location for accessing the station, Historic Dockyard, Gunwharf Quays, and the ferries.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The location is perfect! The rooms are spotless, comfortable and nicely decorated. This hotel is excellent value. Highly recommend it.

All good, have been back a number of times over the years great location. Staff very welcoming, breakfast very good.

Looks like some of the rooms have been re-done since my last visit so that was great but if you want Maritime nostalgia then there's nowhere better to stay.

Mid renovation so not a great experience. It does say on their website but wasn’t mentioned on Expedia. Sure it will be lovely when complete.

We had a lovely time. However the gorgeous valentines meal and wonderful entertainment was dulled a little when we were directed to the back of the hotel with peeling wallpaper and a very tired looking room. Staff were fabulous and the food was delicious.

Breakfast very poor. Quality of food poor, sausages undercooked, bacon swimming in grease, fried eggs hard. Had to ask for milk, tea spoons and hot water. Coffee and hot water pot not labelled. Tables not cleaned and small bin over flowing. Room fan and 2 table lights not working . Shower gel empty on arrival. No information in room about hotel all done on a QR code.which is not practical for all.

The hotel was lovely. The staff where friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, with a good selection. It was nice to have a swimming pool, even though it was a small one. Unfortunately the jacuzzi wasn't working.

Great location. Loved that our family room was actually 2 bedrooms, but the double bed was small and too soft, fine for 1 person but awful for 2. Biggest annoyance was about the pool/spa as that was the reason we had booked that hotel. I called before our stay to find out if we needed to book a slot to use the pool, I was told no but that the pool closed at 8pm. At check in we were told we could pick up towels and a keycard at reception for the pool, which I replied we'd be down in about 10 minutes to go swimming. We turned up in our swimming costumes to be told we couldn't use the pool until 3pm due to a toddlers swimming lesson. So we waited 40 minutes, only to then be told we couldn't use the pool until 3:30pm. When we eventually got in it was to find that the sauna and jacuzzi weren't operational. We were on a tight time schedule, so wasting 90 minutes was highly annoying especially as reception had so many opportunities to give us the correct info and let us know the spa facilities weren't working.

IT was a fine place, but a disaster with the patron laundry, as it flooded and didn't work and took me hours to get one wash cycle done, I asked for a comp breakfast to make up for it, and they did not oblige. Kind of uncool.
