I love staying here but this time the cleaning people refilled used water bottles with tap water. They did fix it by bringing us fresh water bottles! I love the hotel and will always stay here

Parking with ready access to the hotel was an issue, especially considering the cold, rainy weather. I could not find a way around using steps into the hotel, which was difficult with luggage. However, the hotel was beautiful - particularly the lobby - and felt like a step back in time.

the bathroom, specifically the tub, was in pretty bad shape. The shower, however, had good spray. The staff is so nice.

I had requested an upstairs, corner room and that is exactly what we got!!! The room was quiet an off to itself with beautiful view of the river❤️. The staff, as always, were very accommodating an went out of their way to make our stay a perfect getaway❤️

Rooms are large but poorly finished. Bathtubs and floors there in are dangerous for adults. Heat loud. The restaurant and bar were the redeeming features of the property. Food was excellent with lots of great choices. Bar was a fun place and the bartender most excellent. Unfortunately there are absolutely no breakfast options.

Hotel stinks, the room was dirty with hair in bathroom, soap pieces in dish and blood stains on bed spread.

I regret that i did not read any reviews before booking this hotel. It probably was a classy hotel in 1950, but the lack of maintenance and updating for many decades makes me sad. Not to mention the general layer of grime and dinginess. they drove cars in 1950 like i do in 2025, but where did they park in the old days? Hmmmm

It was cool to stay in a historic place but I ended up having to clean the bathroom due to the condition. I did not know much about the area. But I did not feel safe getting out of vehicle while checking in due to homeless people hollering down the street. There were girls outside taking pictures and they ran inside too because they did not feel safe at that moment. Then parking is a nightmare. I got off my shift to come back to check out and head home, a convention or something was in town and parking long and all side parking was taken. I had to park down the far down the street then hall my luggage to my vehicle in the pouring rain.

The Hotel Bentley is no longer the grand establishment it once was. After nearly 25 years since my last visit, I was heartbroken to see how far this historic property has fallen. If I could give it zero stars, I would. To start, there is no longer valet parking, which sets the tone for what’s to come. Guests are left to hunt for street parking, which is nearly impossible, and then drag their bags—alone—down the street to the hotel. Upon entering, the disappointment continues. The lobby floors and elevators were littered with trash and debris. The once-beautiful brass elevator doors were streaked and spotted, as if someone had attempted to clean them with dirty water. The hallways and rooms are in a shocking state of disrepair. Paint is peeling off the walls, and the carpets are not just worn but filthy, stained, and in my room, riddled with bleach marks. The odor throughout the hotel is an overwhelming fruity chemical scent, which did nothing to mask the black mold or mildew visible on falling ceiling tiles. This trip was supposed to be special. I came to Alexandria to spend Christmas with my family for the first time in four years and to celebrate my wedding anniversary. The Hotel Bentley I remembered was supposed to add a touch of elegance and nostalgia to the occasion. Instead, it was a disappointing and uncomfortable experience. We would have been better off staying at a Motel 6.

First the positives. Lobby was beautiful, rooms were large and bathrooms updated. On the other hand, rooms were tired, carpet was worn/stained, heat was mediocre, there was a musty smell (and someone had forgotten to clean out the mini-fridge) and the beds sagged. I wanted to like this more for the historical aspect but this was more on "rundown" side than "faded grandeur." I would not not recommend it but I would tone down your expectations.
