The property was just ok. Check in was smooth, our room was in the 8th floor. Elevators are super small, fitting only 3 people with luggage. Our room door was jammed and opening/closing it was so noisy and we had to push/pull hard to ensure proper closing/opening. The rooms are close to one another so you can hear others in their room. The gym was inconvenient and small, not a lot of equipment and some machines were broken.
The property was ok, but nothing to rave about. When booking we thought it would be nice to be on an "island" but actually found this to be inconvenient and isolating. After exploring downtown Newport, we regretted not booking something closer to the downtown area with all the dining and shops.
Lastly, Expedia said our room came with a $10 credit and the hotel said we could use this towards a snack at the cafe, but this never happened. For some reason the front register and the cafe next door didn't have systems that talked to each other. Not a big deal, this was more of a "perk" that didn't turn out to be true.
If you're visiting Newport for the first time, I would recommend staying somewhere closer to the main attractions. If we come back to Newport someday, we will not be choosing this same property.
