This is a beautifully restored riad in a great location in the medina with fantastic views over the city. We stayed in the Amira Suite for two nights. It was a beautiful room although having to climb steep steps to reach the huge bathroom each time became a bit trying. There is also a private staircase up to the fantastic rooftop terrace although the terrace itself is shared by everybody. Both breakfast and dinner were absolutely lovely. There is also a fantastic restaurant called Ishq within walking distance which we couldn’t recommend highly enough.
Negatives: No tea or coffee-making facilities, very low water pressure in the shower, the pool area remained mostly in the shade (in April). However, the worst was two French families staying downstairs whose children (five of them between the ages of 3 – 7) were completely out of control. There was ear-piercing screaming and squealing with one of the kids having a loud whistle on which he blew constantly. This went on all afternoon, evening and the following morning with the noise being amplified by the tiled courtyard. The parents simply sat outside by the pool chatting, drinking wine and scrolling through their mobile phones as if it had nothing to do with them. Staff were too polite or timid to address the situation. Unfortunately, this experience slightly spoiled our otherwise perfect stay. Surely staff should make sure that all guests show a bit of consideration to each other.
