Read the fine print, it is not a castle. Rooms old with very thin walls and floors, very loud with family above.

Lovely quiet place to stay. Immaculate and spacious room. Varied breakfast, fresh cooked hot part. Friendly staff. Bit of a hike to and especially from (uphill) Whitby centre but no more than about 30 mins for reasonably fit person. Would definitely stay again if in area.

I stayed here as a family of 4 in one of the family rooms. Most rooms are not attached to the castle, but share the same grounds. Once you get used to the layout i.e. Reception being in the castle and breakfast being accessed through the courtyard, it's a really nice place. Not 5 star, but good for the area and no doubt better than staying nearer to the beach, although it's only a 20 minute walk to the beach. The hotel is on a quiet road at night, could't hear any traffic from the main road and breakfast was very nice indeed.

Beautiful surroundings. Lovely breakfast and huge room. Excellent value will definitely stay again. Stunning 25 mins walk down hill to the town. Taxi back if you don't want to walk back.

Interesting building style,a victorian castle with beautiful gardens..Room was not very modern but certainly comfortable, the only problem being the small size of the bathroom which had a good shower but was very cramped with hardly any storage space or shelves places to hang wet towels. Breakfast in the impressive dining room was excellent the equal of many more expensive hotels. WiFi coverage appeared to be a problem as it was unobtainable on an AppleMac device. Altogether a comfortable stay for a couple of nights the only downside being the bathroom. Very good value.
