I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Inn Nishijinso. It was a truly exceptional experience. From the moment we stepped into the traditional Japanese inn, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a serene atmosphere. The breakfast was an absolute feast for the senses, with a stunning array of dishes that showcased the best of Kyoto's culinary traditions. Each item was expertly prepared and presented with the utmost care. But the food wasn't the only highlight of my stay. The traditional Japanese bath, or onsen, was an experience I will never forget. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring the city. The Ryokan itself is beautifully designed, with traditional Japanese architecture and furnishings that transport you back in time. The attention to detail is impressive, with every aspect of the Ryokan thoughtfully considered to create a truly authentic experience. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with tatami flooring and futon beds that are surprisingly cozy. The Okami and the manager are incredibly welcoming and friendly, always happy to offer recommendations and advice on the best places to visit in Kyoto. The manager is very proficient in English. The level of service is exceptional. Overall, I cannot recommend this Ryokan enough. The attention to detail, the warm hospitality, and the beautiful setting all come together to create a truly unforgettable experience. For anyone looking for a traditional Japanese inn experience in Kyoto at a very affordable price, the Inn Nishijinso is an excellent choice.

I stayed for 3 nights in May 2024. Firstly when I arrived at around 7pm the front desk was empty and had to find someone to let me check in for a good hour. Once checked in the owner showed my room and asked me to call him whenever I want to take a shower. ( yes really). Showed me my room and pointed to Kirkland green tea bags and said “ enjoy some Japanese tea” The location is okay but the bath has space for only 2 people and the toilets are smaller than an airplane toilet. I don’t understand all the great reviews. Probably from people who have only visited Tokyo and Kyoto but this is not a typical ryokan. I’ve had much better experiences with my stays at other ryokans with exceptional customer service. The owner here couldn’t accommodate a breakfast request given 48 hours in advance and said the market is closed today ( market is closed in a city like Kyoto?? for days??) It’s a very meh place , I would rather spend my money somewhere else where the owner doesn’t treat you like a child and has a superiority complex about everything.

A nice and quiet Ryokan off the beaten path. The manager and his wife are amazingly nice. They take wonderful care of their customers. The manager speaks English and caters to you. About a 8 min walk from Imadegawa Station and the bus stop is right around the corner. Everything was nice and clean. I recommend this place highly if you wish to avoid the loudness Of the city.
