If staying in a castle is on your bucket list, stay here! We rented two rooms for our family of 5 (three teens). It feels like somewhere Harry Potter would have stayed. Gorgeous old building with modern washrooms, literally inside a Medieval Village. Stairs are spiral stone, and may not feel safe if you have mobility issues. We parked in public parking at the bottom of the hill and walked the 10 minutes up because we were intimidated by trying to drive our rental car through the narrow roads, from reading other reviews. This was a unique and beautiful highlight on our family’s trip to France!

This place is historic and beautiful. It is old. If you like shiny new rooms, it’s not for you. It’s gorgeous and old and charming. The pool that looks out over the town is one of the prettiest things I’ve ever seen. It’s on the most amazing steep, windy medieval street I can imagine. I love it.

Wonderful property high up in the medieval town in a 500 year-old building. It’s a challenge to drive up there, but the experience was unique, especially when combined with the beautiful pool, excellent food, and welcoming staff, also an excellent value.

The check in process was slow, and Yann, the older gentlemen, was extremely rude, disinterested, and unprofessional. FIRST, He chided us because we came in on the wrong road and asked for help. SECOND, the check in process was ridiculously slow. Yann started checking us in, took down a bunch of information, which took some time, and then walked away. Another woman came up, and did the exact same thing all over again, taking down the same information that Yann had already taken. it didn't appear that he gave her any help, and she seemed very confused. She was nice enough, but the check in process took way too long. THIRD, The shower in the tub is literally about five inches above my knee (I'm 5'4"), so you have to really climb up into it. FOURTH, there was one container for some sort of hair product, I think it was shampoo, but it was empty, so my husband had to use soap. FIFTH, the blowdryer is the type that is attached to the wall from like 1990. It has no speeds, and you cannot leave the room. There is no window in the bathroom, nor a vent. SIXTH, the breakfast was mediocre, and I had read bad reviews about the restaurant, so there is no way I would try it for dinner. Having said all of that, there is a woman that works at the front dest that was there on Monday morning that was both helpful and nice. In addition, Hugo, who also works at the front desk, was very helpful and nice. No recommendation from me. Go to La Fete down the street.

I spent 4 nights at this charming hotel located up on a hill right in the center of the medieval city. Nathalie at the front desk is very friendly and helpful and a joy to have an exchange with. My room located in an adjoining building was clean and comfortable with a lovely view overlooking the pool and the town below. Only downside was that there was no air conditioning in the room, only a small fan. The hotel provided few parking spaces but driving there is a challenge because of steep and very narrow cobblestone roads. I would definitely stay here again.

Very unique, and go there either on foot or with a small car. It’s in the middle of the old historic town, so I suggest to walk there first and then get directions to their car park or you may be backing down old, narrow and winding streets ( like I did)... Wonderful old and historic. Comfortable without AC in the fall. Swimming pool is a delight. Go. Try it out

Totally original and well maintained. Stays cool inside even on a hot day. Swimming pool on terrace a real bonus, use it! Outside breakfast on a different terrace than pool overlooking town, next to belfry. Comfortable bedding, a great night’s sleep. Quiet neighborhood

The view from the outside dining area was amazing, the room was clean and comfortable. However, the wi-fi signal in my room was really poor.

Full of character, rustic rooms (maybe a little dated), good breakfast and well situated in the citadel of the town. 5 minutes walk to the town centre/square which has a couple a good restaurants. We were bicycle touring and there was plenty of storage room for them. There was a some parking for cars to. Definitely would stay there again and a perfect base for Ventoux or Cote de Rhone Village wines.

Amazing village and the hotel was right in the middle of it. Driving to the entrance and parking is tricky, but worth it. Rooms are large and comfortable. The restaurant is very good and the view is wonderful. This is why you came to Provence!!

What a find this was. Sat high on the hill in the medieval part of town, and a last minute call to upgrade our room found us in a corner room overlooking the town and clock tower. Just amazing. Coming from NZ, the history the hotel and village is steeped in was mindblowing. A real retreat but only a short walk into the village below for great eateries if you are not eating at the hotel, a superb market and a perfect spot to get out and about and explore some of the region from.

The most interesting location, and the most beautiful hotel, on our holiday! I booked a superior room which had windows on three sides with fantastic views and also faced the bell tower (which is silenced from 12 to 8). At 11 o'clock at night we watched a fantastic display of the brightest fireflies I have ever seen (in the darkness towards the river). It is a very old hotel and there is no air conditioning although there was a large fan in the bedroom and we found it absolutely fine. There is also no lift and the stairs are worn by centuries of use. The car park is tiny and all double parked, reached through narrow cobbled streets. The hotel is full of Character and has a stunning open air restaurant with a fantastic view to the lower town and beyond and the rose garden has recently been replanted. A beautiful oasis!

A lovely but, yes, quirky place in the upper, or medieval, part of the city. It is an old, atmospheric mansion with extraordinary views out over nearby Provence and an exquisite enclosed garden. The salon was pretty but the rooms are certainly not accessible for people with limited mobility. There is another attached property that may be more accessible—it has a nice pool that is available to all guests. There is parking though I chose to leave my car in a public lit an easy ten minute stroll across the river—I wasn’t going to attempt those streets with my rented stock-shift car and just brought up with me an overnight bag. Breakfast is the attached garden-restaurant. Overall, a wonderful way to spend a night in Vaison-la-Romaine.
