Near a lake and convenient for dining at other, nearby, locations.

This was my favorite accommodation on our travels so far. Access to the spa was a bonus. Breakfast was suburb, great selection of food. Friendly staff always available to answer any question you may have. Highly recommend. Emilie from Canada

Beautiful place. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The hotel and restaurant were top notch. Room was clean and beautiful. Food at the restaurant was delicious. Thank you for the lovely stay.

2 min drive to bonus supermarket and gas station. Room is clean. Breakfast is included which is really convenient. The only minus point is the shower temperature is constantly swaying between hot and cold.

Had lunch in the dinning room. I ordered the catch of the day. Felt like a home cooked meal. Overall, a good experience.

The hotel website neglects to tell you that they are located right next to a cow farm. The smell is putrid when your hotel room windows are open because there is no a/c in the hotel. The staff says the whole town smells which it does. The spa is excellent, the view of the lake is obstructed by the trees.

Family vacation traveling with 2 adult children. Excellent location. The only negnative issue was the bathroom sink and shower water had a strong sulfur oder. This was the only time we experienced this. Right on the lake.

We were promised through expedia 2 free spa access. We were told upon arrival that there was no way that we would get a free spa for two. That the spa would cost 2000isk vs the normal 4000 isk. Basically, we were treated like vagrants as soon as we arrived. We made reservations for dinner. We were seated at the first table as you enter restaurant. Shortly after arriving at dinner a table of 5 or 6 with kids arrived. The parents let them run around the restaurant. Our server/host Rapheal was the only saving grace. He knew we needed to move to a differrent table. Anyone would! The behavior of the aforementioned kids continued and we were not the only ones annoyed. I would say Raphael was the only reason we actually stayed at the hotel. We showed Raphael our booking which included 2 free spa. He made sure the issue would be addressed and apologized for the front desk check in ladies attitude. Bed was comfortable, property was quaint and pretty. Staffing needs to be improved and less pretentious before I would recommend anyone staying at this location.

Spa and restaurant staff were great!

Best thing about this hotel is the aurora calling service, was able to view the aurora while our stay, love the view since it’s a lake at the back of the hotel and make it easier to take aurora photos there. Towels not so clean and housekeeping did not check the shower gel bottles as it was empty when we checked in. Staffs are helpful to give us extra bottle of shower gel to use, overall still recommend for this hotel.

Really lovely stay at the hotel. Great views, wonderful staff and they went the extra mile to ring us when the north lights were visible. Breakfast was lovely. Great stay.

What a lovely lakeside hotel! A good restaurant and spacious, comfortable rooms. And just a short walk from many town stores and restaurants.

Great location for travelling around the ring road. Nice quiet room overlooking the lake. Breakfast was good too. We did get a sulphur type smell in the shower room but it wasn't bad enough to complain about.

Lake Hotel Gistihusid Egisstadir was night 6 for us on our journey around Iceland’s famous ring road. This hotel was seemed a little out of the way but perfectly placed for our itinerary. There was an on-site restaurant, and many groups stayed for the night. The atmosphere was vibrant, and the guests all seemed very happy. We stayed in a ground-floor room that overlooked the countryside. It was remote and peaceful. We had a lovely evening here.

Welcoming and cozy lobby and sitting area. Rooms were cute and comfortable with beautiful view of lake. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious with great service! Breakfast buffet had many choices and very good food! Highly recommend!

Stately hotel in a beautiful location on the lake. Clean, comfortable and quiet. Don't miss the restaurant on site, the meals were truly the best we had in Iceland!

The person at reception was doing his job, not very welcoming, however in the morning he was in a much better mood, the staff at the restaurant were extremely friendly, helpful and quite funny...
