After our 17 hours of flight it was a delight to spend our first day in this beautiful environment! Absolutely enchanting, peaceful and quiet! The staff of the hotel and the restaurant were amazing! Unfortunately the weather was terribly hot (went above 40 that day), but when we requested a fan in our room by the time we got back it was delivered. The restaurant was also first class. The food was delicious and the service was beyond our expectations! The waitresses might be young but don’t let that fool you, they were very professional! The castle grounds are beautiful, well kept and tranquil! We will definitely stop at Karolyi Kastely again our next visit to Hungary! Thank you for your hospitality and amazing service!

Don't get to sleep in a 150 year old, renovated palace often. Quiet location. Take a tour of the palace, amazing. To bad they don't have the country of Canada in their reservation database...haha. After 10 min just gave us our room key.

This hotel is beautiful both inside and outside, and the staff was very nice and accommodating. The breakfast is to die for - what a beautiful and delicious spread. The beds were very comfortable (stayed in first floor room) and the bathroom quite nice. If I had to make any suggestion for improvement, it would be to have a small fan in the room in case it is hot out. With the door and window closed there's no air movement. If you open the windows, unless it's windy outside, there's still no air movement and mosquitos may come in. A fan of any kind in the room to move air around while sleeping would be a nice touch.

Lovely, clean, affordable... castle living. Ask for a room with working AC, seems that few are working...

This Hotel in a castle, is an excellent place to visit. The chef is extremely talented and all our meals were delicious. The Resturant staff were knowledgeable about the menu and the wines from the local region. We viewed the castles historic displays, explored in the 100 acre park and cycled around the local villages. This Hotel is an amazing facility in a 200 year old castle that has been restored to a very high standard. We recommend a stay in this Hotel.

The Karolyi is a beauty on the outside but the inside needs help. It is fine and seemingly the best option n the area but very bad wifi signal, very drab rooms that contrast so much with the exterior, only ok AC, and uninspired food (especially breakfast) make me rate it as “ok” at best. That said, the price is quite good—so do the math to see of it works for you.

Definitely special as architecture, and different from a regular hotel. Very clean room, with minibar and private bathroom. The furniture inside the castle is rather scant, but the outside view and the premises are beautiful. Great place to stay if you want a special accomodation. A word of caution: We booked the room with dinner, still the restaurant was caught off guard when we arrived at 8:30 PM and the 2 course meal improvised for us was not worth the extra $$ we paid at reservation. Better pay on the spot to prevent this.

We had a fantastic stay in the castle. It was built in 1844 by one of the Hungarian aristocratic families but during Communist times it was reduced to an uninhabitable state. It is now fully renovated (save the surrounding stables and other buildings) and you can really enjoy the original splendour of the building. The rooms are specious and clean, equipped with air-conditioning and a minibar. The complimentary breakfast is fresh, tasty and the portions are generous according to the famous Hungarian hospitality. The staff is very helpful and kind. There is a free tour of the building after breakfast, which is really worth attending. It takes about 20 minutes by car to get into Székesfehérvár, the former capitol of the first Hungarian kings with plenty to see and to do there. Both Lake Velence and Lake Balaton are just over a half an hour ride and have excellent strands. Other nearby places to visit are Zirc and Veszprém. Or you can go hiking in the Bakony mountains. We'll be returning definitely.

Wonderful stay from check-in to check-out. Great property architecturally combined with service by smiling faces. Excellent walking opportunities in the vicinity. Highlight of the stay was the breakfast...Everything was freshly prepared including the pastries.

Americans love castles. And this is a real castle. I was skeptical that it would be so nice, since it is very affordable, but it was just great. The moment you drive up you realize it is special. The lobby is simple, but a great staircase and nicely preserved. Beautiful paintings and description of the family that lived there. The room itself was clean and new. Basic but very comfortable. Breakfast, served in the nice dining room, was large and tasty. I absolutely loved the experience of staying in a castle.

Beautiful surroundings, nice exterior ambiance, excellent dinner, and very good breakfast, but lack of interior ambiance (no enough decorations and comfy zones), strange space organization of rooms on the first floor (and with small windows facing the legs of people doing the tours), smell of the kitchen spreading to the rooms in the western wing, and long walk from parking area to the entrance (on earth path, which may be a problem in the case of rains)
