Clean and tidy room with local amenities close by. Room is a bit tired and could do with a face lift

Very basic hotel, very tired and dated and in need of renovation. Pictures online do not reflect accurately the condition and standard of hotel. Dirty towel left in bathroom and sick and shower was not clean.

For £94.50 a night this is a very basic hotel. Room and bed were large and clean, but very sparsely and cheaply furnished. There was a TV and 'fridge. Bathroom was very small, though clean. Amenities? I didn't notice any - no breakfast, no lounge or bar. The other clientele did not inspire one to expect a peaceful or indeed safe night's sleep; though in fairness I enjoyed quiet and restful nights. The hotel is well placed for Taunton station.

All the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had all the amenities we needed. The location is excellent as near train station and fairly central to the town

The reason we chose the Royal Ashton was that they allow pets (for a fee) The room are clean and have good beds. But this hotel has been very ambitious in cramming as many rooms as possible in an old building!

Really friendly staff but my room was shabby with marked, stained and ripped wallpaper. It was located at the front of the property with a lot of late night noise and light from the main road. I see many other 10/10 reviews but can not say they reflected the room I was given. The room was clean, however.

Staff were awesome, easy walk from train station, lots of choice for food nearby. Bus stop out front. If you got heavy luggage request room downstairs as there no lift.

Staff didn't seem courteous. The two ladies on reception didn't make us feel welcome and informed us having a dog would be a charge of £25. We had been told over the phone previously that it was £15 and also what I had seen online. It was eventually sorted but it wasn't a good start. We also
