We had a two night stay at the Solar Antigo Coimbra. The Pros about the property are: unique accomodations, very nice staff & nice breakfast brought to your room each morning. The cons: The room (at least we the one we got on the main level) was very small, there is no privacy between the shower, toilet and the rest of the room. Our room was right beside reception and when i mean right beside, I mean when we opened our door new guests checking in were right there blocking our doorway. We were also bothered by guests checking in late or stopping to chat with the person at the front desk who would have long & loud conversations right outside our door at 10:30pm. The reception closes at 11 so this wasn't a problem after that. It was an experience, but I'm not sure I would do it again.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Solar Antigo in Coimbra. It’s one of the most uniquely decorated places we’ve stayed! Great location on a narrow street inside the city walls, which made it a bit challenging to find. The room was large and very clean and comfortable. The staff could not have been nicer and took good care of us.

Staff was very nice. This is not the easiest place to get to. Located on a narrow alley and parking is very challenging. It is also multi level with stairs. So if stairs are an issue, keep this in mind. Haven’t stayed at a split foyer hotel room before. But the foyer did come complete with a swooning sofa, TV and padded/quilted wall. A bit of noise but not what i would call disturbing. Quirky little place but we really liked it. Also had a HUGE hot tub. Breakfast delivered to your room; very nice!

The hotel was very welcoming to keep our luggage until the room was ready. We were able to walk to the university and the river within minutes; I can’t think of a better situated location. Upon getting the room, we were welcomed with bread and wine, a much unexpected delight. The room was very secure and nicer than the exterior would have expected!!! The room was a great space with a kitchenette and the staff went above and beyond in providing information, dining locations and what to experience while we were there. The provided breakfast was a mix of fruit, meat, cheese, breads and cereal, all which were great. If you have trouble with steps, ask for a ground floor room as there is no lift, but if you have trouble with steps, you’re probably not going to enjoy Portugal at all!!! LOL!!!

The property was large for the suite that we booked. Unfortunately there is a bar not too far from this hotel that kept patrons pretty loud until late in the evening drinking and shouting on the street while trying to sleep. Overall the hotel was in a great location to the university of Coimbra and uphill from the downtown city center.

This is an extraordinary place just like the photo. I was greeted with sparkling wine and cake and offered the whole bottle the following day. It is in a very challenging place in old Coimbra so you need to be reasonably fit although another lovely lady walking her dog helped me out the next night when i was lost

Staff were great but room was badly decorated and overstuffed with furniture—little room to move around without hitting toes or leg on the bed or a table. The bed was good but the furniture in the sitting area was extremely uncomfortable. Ok for one night but I wouldn’t book again.

Very unique room, location is right near University and close to Main Street and old town, Staffa are very friendly, the breakfast is brought into the room, no fancy but good for what are needed in the morning, also the water and shower has multiple heads, with strong warm water it can be a good message, highly recommend to stay so to have unique experience, best way is to get taxi so save energy to walk around later

We had a room #302 with a big jacuzzi - which was a treat. The bed was super comfortable and the room was very clean. The breakfast came at the time requested and was delightful. I’m not sure that we got the “deluxe room with kitchenette” that we requested - although the room did have a mini fridge and Nespresso machine. We would have enjoyed having a comfortable chair or small sofa for sitting though. Please note that if you are arriving by car, it is very difficult to find this place and parking is also a problem. It felt a bit like a “Alice in Wonderland” experience.

The staff who checked us in was fantastic. The room was small, which is to be expected, but the location was great. The staff served us breakfast in our room, which was nice. Overall a wonderful place.
