Once we finally found the place (**more about that later; but please read at end of this review), it was incredible. It's not in Varenna per se; rather it's more in Fiumielatte, which is a 20 minute walk from town. We enjoyed that. It's really a unique little gem of a place - literally extending right over the lake (and your car is really parked on the roof). You can sit on one of the decks and watch the lake. The little cabin has a well-appointed small kitchen (complete with dishwasher), and a nice bedroom with views on the lake. Really, it exceeded our expectations, based on the pictures we saw in the listing. As an extra bonus, if you are intrepid (I was), you can climb down a ladder and swim in the lake a bit. We enjoyed our walks to town (take a flashlight or a phone for after dark, as the sidewalks are narrow at places). **Now for finding the place: the website (accessed from my phone) initially flashed to the correct side of Lake Como (the Varenna side), but quickly put us on the map to go to the opposite side - which more or less matched the address provided by the manager. We went to that other side (near Menaggio) and called the manager. He told us we needed to go to a parking lot in Fiumelatte to meet him; preferably before 6 PM. To get there in time, we took a car ferry from Menaggio to Varenna, then drove to the meeting place in Fiumelatte. It was all an adventure, of course, and we should have called earlier to work this out in advance, perhaps. After that, all was amazingly good!

A lovely romantic hideaway on the shores of Lake Como. Clean and modern property. Excellent base for sightseeing.

Wir haben wunderschöne Tage hier verbracht. Der direkte Seezugang machte die Reise perfekt.

Bis auf die etwas schleppende Kommunikation mit dem Verwalter zu Anfang unseres Aufenthaltes waren es vier sehr schöne Tage. Ein bisschen mehr Wert auf Sauberkeit könnte gelegt werden (Spinnweben in den Ecken). Die Anschaffung neuer Gläser schadet auch nicht.
