Lovely place to spend a few nights, the private waterfall/plunge pool on the estate was wonderful, the staff were very helpful and friendly, sitting out on the verandah at sunset (or any time really) was just heavenly. The only negative for me was that meals were a bit pricey

We had always wanted to stay on a Tea Estate in the hills and this did not disappoint. A great tour of the estate was arranged either the Tea Estate Manager and was an excellent insight into how tea is grown and picked. Great views from the veranda. Staff most helpful.

Absolutely lovely colonial house in a beautiful location with stunning views where all you can hear is birdsong. The staff are so friendly and so helpful and the food was amazing. We had a very interesting tour of the the tea plantation and all thoroughly enjoyed our cookery lesson and High Tea on One Tree Hill was so special. If only we'd had longer to swim in the waterfalls, have sunset drinks at cascade pool, do some trekking....

Ashburnham Estate is a lovely place on a working tea plantation with hiking and waterfalls on property. The food is also delicious with a good variety at every meal. The rooms have just been fully refurbished and redecorated with an easy, classic country house feel. Just be aware that they are very slow to respond to both email and calls - seems like an easy thing to remedy.

Beautiful property and fantastic hosts - only minor points: 1. Pillows need urgent replacing - smelly; 2. Food needs to stay Sri Lankan - no need to overcompliate. The chef was away when we were there so food was a let down, although they did try.

We had a lovely stay at Ash! Briony & Phillip were super hosts who made us feel very welcome and right at home. There are many activities to enjoy including a lovely waterfall walk. Ash offers a unique & homely experience that other hotels cannot offer. Lovely relaxing stay!

In this house you feel like beeing in a mansion with tea plantation in the 1930s. It's worth asking the hotel for a driver in advance. Our driver got lost and the hotel was not reachable by phone. The furnishing is consistently stylish with high quality, the food manifold and very tasty (perhaps a bit pricy) and the service overwhelming - discreet but always there if needed. Amusingly the room was cleaned up a bit differently every day. There is enough space for children who obviously felt very comfortable here. Beyond normal levels, a variety of experiences and details are offered: e.g. adventure tour on the tea plantation, wool blankets, pleasant background music, extensive reading material, swimming in the river with waterfall, pool, tours to various destinations in the area, etc. We enjoyed the stay very much.
