Our room was large and extremely comfortable with the bonus of a sofa to sit on and a view out over the river. We were lucky enough to get a brief sunset over the river on the first night. Everywhere was furnished to a high standard and was spotlessly clean. We were made very welcome and the hostess was keen to ensure we had enough information about the local area to make sure we fully enjoyed our stay, found places to eat in the evening, etc. It's a short drive into the centre of Kirkcudbright, or you can walk along the pavement or along the river path into the centre of the town. The waiting and cleaning staff were also all very friendly and efficient. The breakfast was delicious with an amazing fruit platter and ample portions of delicious local food. There was a great choice from scrambled eggs and smoked salmon to locally produced smoked haddock and a full Scottish breakfast. We'd definitely recommend this guest house and we hope to stay there again ourselves if/when we're visiting the area again. There's plenty to do in the local area and we only scratched the surface. From wildlife to the arts there's something for everyone - the Galloway red kite trail, various nature reserves and the great bike and walking trails in the Galloway Forest Park a short drive away and in Kirkcudbright itself there's lots of galleries and a fantastic new arts centre - well worth a visit.
