Quick and easy friendly staff

We were welcomed warmly by very friendly staff and the staff were very helpful throughout and very polite and kind, too. We weren't able to have breakfast, as we had booked, but were offered a generous afternoon meal on arrival as compensation. The room was perfectly normal and just as we anticipated. A nice touch was the toiletries (shower gel and shampoo) which seemed of very good quality indeed. We couldn't get the pub's WIFI in our room but that wasn't a big issue. One thing that would be helpful would be instructions on what to do with the room key when you leave. Once again, it wasn't a big problem (left it in the unlocked room) but it's a thought! It was a lovely location and overall, I would be very happy to return to The Lord Nelson.

Excellent quality rooms, super friendly and professional staff

Our second stay at the Lord Nelson. We like it for the location, as very convenient for visiting relatives in and around Brigg. First stay was in a room at the back which was peaceful. This time we were at the front and we were disturbed until 2 am by noise outside from rowdy revellers in high festive spirit! We had what we needed in the room for a 1 night stay. Price was higher than I hoped for bed only.

Excellent hotel in every way

Pub downstairs was very nice but the room was appalling.. shower trickled out and was freezing . Room was not the cleanest .. not a good experience at all and will not be going back ever

Very tired / building leaking water / whole place needs an overhaul

Overall the Lord Nelson is a nice place to stay, however our room was directly above the Karaoke so there was no chance of getting any shut eye before 0100hrs. It was quite entertaining listening to the passing crowds outside falling out and having lovers tiffs.

Unfriendly check in. No wifi in room, no meal at night only before 6pm. B/fast no choice or menu, no cereal. Did they want our custom. Brigg worth a visit

One night stay last min booking. Room was comfortable but dated. Staff not particularly helpful on parking or dining info

The staff were very friendly and the room was clean with a nice en-suite.

Breakfast 9-10 (this should be on booking) no food being done first night and restaurant stopped serving around 7pm second night. Should be advertised on hotel.com this is the case

I was working nearby and needed a room for the night. Ordinarily, I'd have a bite to eat with a beer, go to my room and have an early night..... not last night! Bob and Caz truly were, the most excellent hosts. I wasn't expecting to be working in the area for more than a couple of days and I was running out of clean socks, tee-shirts and underwear. Caz said "Try B&M bargains across the road, if you do no good there, you can use our washing machine and dryer." As it turns out, I was able to buy the clothes but more importantly, their offer was there. You won't get that sort of hospitality at a Premier Inn! I ended up chatting with them and their regulars and playing darts until quite late. The room was great and to top it all, Caz made me some sandwiches for me to take to work today. Can't believe that there are negative comments on here, I'll certainly be going there again. Thanks to you both, see you soon.

good stay for work

Friendly clean and comfortable! Couldn’t wish for a better place to stay! Great atmosphere and outstanding staff!

Room and welcome excellent. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room. Comfy bed. Will stay again.

Food stoped serving on a sunday at 4pm. Bedroom comfortable breakfast was not worth the extra money.

Thé lady owner was friendly, but she was let down by her staff who were generally indifferent. I understand times are hard in hospitality but they won’t improve unless personnel engage better with customers. The basics were there, clean bed and towels but high ledges not dusted for weeks, the room was only big enough for one small chair in a corner, generally the place needs some TLC and the ventilation spread the odour of stale cooking smells rather than removing them. I have family nearby and would stay again because I might need to but it could be a lot better. Thé À board outside describes room as luxurious ours sadly did not meet that standard
