The Aston Tavern was a totally unique experience. Newly renovated but was just like staying in a 19th century tavern. Staff/family were extremely accommodating and friendly. I would definitely stay again.

The Aston Tavern is a unique boutique hotel located within an easily travelled distance to Birmingham City Centre. The rooms are decorated in as close to Victorian style as possible but with all the facilities of a modern hotel. Our suite had THREE TV's and more plug sockets than I have ever seen outside of an office, yet all the furnishings were period. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, with tea/coffee/hot chocolate on arrival, lots of tips for Birmingham and an excellent breakfast. In order to travel into Birmingham City Center you COULD drive but I probably wouldn't recommend if just based on parking costs and aggravation alone. Aston train station is a 5-10 minute walk and the train journey about 10 minutes. Trains are very frequent. The only downside was the proximity to the flyover. Being on the top floor there was a bit of traffic noise most of the time. If you aren't a deep sleeper then consider some earplugs. The suite we were in had separate rooms for the double bed and the two singles. Ideal for getting away from the kids, and if the kids refuse to sleep in a double bed together. Very enjoyable stay, would go back.

Location was not quite what I was expecting, but cannot fault the accommodation inside, beautiful presented, clean, comfortable, friendly staff and proprietor. Car parking easy, restaurant was not open on the evening of our stay sadly, but were provided with sandwiches and drinks and warm hospitality. Hearty breakfast, we would stay again.

This is a very recently renovated tavern close to villa park and Witon Ind est. The level on works carried out on this old building is to the highest level and sympathetic to the original building. The staff are lovely, very welcoming and very eager to make you as comfortable as possible. The room was spacious and comfortable with a nice sized tv, quality tea and coffee ind a lovely hot and powerful shower in the en-suite. Considering it’s location, the noise from outside cannot be heard in the rooms. This is perfect hotel for business in Aston or Witon but also would be a lovely place to spend with your significant partner.

An amazing hotel close to the football ground. The hotel rooms were eclectic. Very new but too 'crowded'. Everything was new but too much. Bed was too high with too thick a covers. Shower room was very quirky with new Victorian plumbing. The owner said he wanted to refurbish a stately home and it seemed he was practising his style here. The public areas downstairs were immaculate with chandeliers and plush leather chairs and couches. Very quite the first night but the next day for football it was packed. The gardens filled and the band played. However despite football and the numbers you never felt at risk. Paul, despite his shorts, was a marvellous host.
