The first 3 nights of the week was spent at a 5-star hotel in Forest City. So it was always going to be difficult to "adjust", despite the welcoming name like Aloha.
Aloha Hotel is situated in a corner shop lot, very near the sea. It was fairly easy to find using Waze and on-street parking is right in front of the hoteI. Checking in requires a RM50 cash deposit. I stayed on the 2nd floor and there's a lift that services the entire building. My room had a view of the opposite shops. I took the above photos as soon as I entered the room for the first time, not too cramp. I have stayed at much more cramp hotel rooms. The bathroom is long and narrow. The soap dispensers were empty, but I've learned a long time ago to bring all my toiletries along during my trips. The towels could use some fabric softener. Other than that, no complaints about the room.
The front office staff may not be at the reception counter at all times during breakfast, so if you're in a rush to check out, please do so whenever you see them, even if it's before heading to breakfast. While I waited patiently for the receptionist to reappear behind the counter, another irate guest was incessantly ringing the bell to summon attention 🤭.
Breakfast is just behind the reception counter. It's a simple set-up with equally simple foods. It's not a 4 or 5-star hotel, so don't expect such a buffet line-up. It's not meant to wow the palate, but more to fill up the tummy till the next meal elsewhere.
