We had such a wonderful time at MICASA! We stayed in one of the private onsen rooms, and it was a gorgeous mid-trip treat! The food was phenomenal— and so filling! — and we had a lovely time exploring the surrounding area in the snow!

A small traditional hot spring hotel, there’ has 3 private hot springs and one with outdoor. It’s a great place for family staying.

The breakfast and dinner are both very delicious and bountiful

We went to the hotel without much expectation. There were three hot spring which you can use privately for an hour, but it was off season so we were very lucky. It was old and cozy we loved staying there.

Fantastic onsen experience for myself and my girlfriend. Facilities were well maintained and private bath for our room was excellent! Breakfast and dinner food was fantastic and service was english accommodating and very friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to escape the city and have a tranquil few days.

This place is highly recommend. The hospitality is superb, a very local and friendly atmosphere. They serve fantastic breakfast & dinner. The quality is high, the portion is just right, and it's 100% delicious. If possible, please get a room with outside bathtub. There's a koi pond for you to look at while you are soaking.

Excellent stay, what an experience! The service and food was amazing. We booked the room with with a private bath which made the stay - as we were their in winter and the bath is heated from the hot springs. 100% recommend this hotel and experience.

The property is well kept. We had the bedroom with a private onsen. The onsen bath is ok for 2 people at most, the water was good. The outdoor is nice. There are some boiler in the back that comes on and off, so there is a certain amount of noise. The bedroom is nice, japanese style. We had the dinner and breakfast option, both were good. The location close to minakami station is convenient. check in was done in a fast way. Plus: - hostess spoke english - clean facilities, with nice rest area Minus; - 2 open onsen, one is small and can only accomodate 4 or 5 people. - personal onsen is small, 2 people max

We stay in a room with open air bath. It was amazing! Food was great both dinner and breakfast. Staff are very friendly. Very cozy atmosphere.

Excellent small ryokan with great food, nice onsens. Michelle speaks perfect English, which makes a welcome change, & makes life a lot easier than the norm for rural Japan. The only slight negative is the view of the back of the property, which is really quite ugly & offputting; maybe they intend to work on this, as the front & interior have been recently & sympathetically renovated. They failed to respond to emails from me regarding pick-up at the station; this didn't matter as the Tourist Info people were able to make contact.....

Room a bit small without a shower has to use shared one

I wanted to experience an onsen during a recent business trip to Tokyo. Micasa was pretty easy to get to on the Shinkasen from Tokyo station. Minakami is a small town without a lot of facilities. I visited between the ski and summer seasons an it was pretty dead. Micasa was nice and an interesting experience for a Westerner. The food was good, the hot springs relaxing and the staff welcoming. I thought one night was enough, though.

This is an absolutely phenomenal ryokan. I've been to Japan 4 times and have stayed in many hotels around the country. This was in my top three! The service was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious (some of the best I've had in Japan). The room was clean, spacious, and perfectly cozy. Our view of the river on a snowy day was gorgeous. The onsen facilities are fantastic, including a private bath you can book as a couple. The location is ideal. Everything is clean and fresh, and the facilities have been newly renovated. But, the thing that topped it all was the service. We were treated with the most wonderful warmth and kindness. Everything we wanted was taken care of immediately. They even offered to drive us to the train station early in the morning after we checked out in the middle of a snow storm. Could not have asked for more. Though we had a short stay at Micasa, it was one of the highlights of our trip and we will definitely be back!
