Choice in the centre of Flan is limited, this hotel is tired and in some need of modernisation. The location is fantastic, but it is a transit station for coach parties, the food is reasonable, but expensive and is a buffet. If you want good food head for Flam marina much better.

Nice hotel in a fantastic location. Beds were fine. Sofa bed which as a family we used was fairly terrible. Breakfast was excellent. Location is world class. Staff were friendly.

Nice hotel and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was great; lots of options. The lobby was nice and had a water pitcher for water and one for coffee. The hotel overlooked the town.

You could stay in a nicer hotel in Manhattan at a lower price than this aging, overpriced, musty hotel.

The historic property and character is nice, but the room is lacking and sparse. As a solo traveler, I was literally given one towel, one mug, one pillow for a large bed. What if I need to wash the mug to switch between coffee and tea, I don’t even have a towel to do dishes besides the one I used to wash myself with. The outlet in the bathroom is about 6 feet in height for no reason and could be challenging to people like me. The bed was a 2 inch pad on top of a boxspring. For more than one night it may have been a problem sleeping. On the plus side, the breakfast was excellent, the staff was all very kind, and there is a good amount of character. On the minus the room is lacking, and they don’t think through the needs of travelers. Many of us were put on the fourth floor and the elevator to that floor was broken, and had to carry our luggage up stairs. The hotel was not full, we didn’t need to be put on that floor without prior notice. There’s also no offer to help with the luggage, which is disappointing. In summary, if I stay in Flam again, I’ll probably try the other hotel. If I stayed here again, I would call him ahead of time to check on the rooms and the elevator

The hotel is ok, but seriously overpriced and very poor value for money. It is priced like a luxury hotel but the fittings and rooms were tourist class. Rooms are small and dark. It did not help that although we checked in early, we were offered only a choice of a second floor room that shared a wall with the restaurant, or ground floor rooms with doors that opened to the outside of the hotel. There were apparently no other rooms available, although it didn’t seem the hotel was that full. Amenities are seriously lacking in the room - no tissue paper or body cream, nor room slippers or bathrobes. Heating in the room is centrally controlled, and you will need to walk to the reception to request changes to the thermostat because there are no phone lines. The decor looked dated and furniture are not well maintained - with scratches in the cabinets. Someone had also tried changing the temperature of the heater unsuccessfully abd punched a hole on the plastic panel, I would say fine if you can get a good price for the room. However if you are paying, like we did, more than for a four star hotel in Bergen, then you will find it quite disappointing.

Needs refurbishing. Worn out hall carpeting. Bathroom shower/tub combination is dangerous (very high step in, no anti-slip in shower/tub. Limited dining options. But the breakfast buffet was good.
