How friendly the staff were and clean and tidy everything was

All was fine for everything except we were charged the full stay cost on booking on Hotels.Com and then again on check in. I have been assured my second payment will be refunded in due course. The young lady on check in was very efficient and charming but had a technical problem that led to the overcharging

Stayed here with my husband for a night, the rooms are perfect it was a lovely stay

The hotel is very tastefully decorated and modern the staff very helpful and friendly the food excellent and cost was very reasonable. Unfortunately the room we stayed in was right at the front off the hotel it did have modern double glazed windows but they were useless the traffic outside never stopped until after midnight and restarted around 4 am.I am quite a heavy sleeper but this had to be the worst night’s sleep I’ve experienced at a hotel, the bed looked lovely but we couldn’t turn over without it creaking loudly this was mentioned to the staff before we left and the young man was sorry to hear about it he phoned his manager and reported are comments who then said he would contact us to get more information unfortunately we have been back now just under a week and have heard nothing from them.

Really lovely place, clean rooms amazing size bathroom. Food amazing and service great.

Great hotel and good food. Nice bedrooms but a little hot. Could have done with an air conditioning unit.

Ended up on a last minute overnight stay with work and extended by an additional night, partly due to the snow but also the fact that this was the perfect place for some downtime. Staff were super friendly and helpful, food was amazing and the room was just perfect! I work away every week and stay in a number of hotels and I fully and highly recommend this place! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

The staff were all extremely friendly, polite and helpful! The room was nicely decorated, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The food was great too!

Everything was good apart from the bed in room 2, the mattress was a little worn and springs digging in back. Probably the worst night's sleep I've had in a while.

Check in was a bit slow as the bar area was very very busy. Excellent accomodation and brilliant full english breakfast. We will definately be staying again.

I've stayed here many times and have always had a great stay. Rooms are really comfy and have everything you need. Bar is good, food is great and breakfast is excellent. Recommended.

Very nicely remodeled! Only recommendation is that they buy new mattresses. The one in room 5 is a thin layer of cloth over protruding coils.

Well looked after establishment. It has been tastefully decorated. Our room was amazing! The decor and size of the room were fab the bathroom was huge!! Not that much could be done about the super hot weather the room was stuffy and super warm. The hotel did provide a fan but I have to say made no difference what so ever! Air conditioning would be an excellent choice if looking to improve comfort during the summer months. Other than that staff were superb. The grounds and pub/restaurant and hotel were well looked after. Close to Ambergate railway station and plenty of hill walking if your a keen walker. Overall happy with my stay.

Lovely decor and excellent food. The local Derwent Valley railway line makes it an excellent spot for local walks along the Cromford Canal, or trips to Matlock Bath.

Friendly staff, room was very warm it was the hottest night of the year and window wouldn’t open wide Didn’t sleep well as so hot Room did have a fan but it was on a timer that switch off every hour

Warm welcome from staff eager to help, high standard modern room spotlessly clean with coffee tea, hot chocolate & biscuits provided. Lovely restaurant & bar with selection of real ales and excellent food. No negatives at all
