This is such a beautiful property! Absolutely loved it! Service is fantastic, rooms are spacious, modern with Asian details, bathroom was great, clean, and comfortable. Staff is wonderful, attentive, welcoming, efficient. The lady at the front desk helped me out a lot with tour booking. The view/sunset from the lake was incredible! December from the spa gave me a fantastic Myanmar massage. Highly recommend this hotel! And the massage! Would definitely stay here again!

i stayed in one of the lake view rooms. the bedroom, bathroom and sitting room were all well-designed, decorated and very comfortable. the view was as beautiful as i hoped. there's a comfortable seating area on the porch on the lake side. thr grounds were lovely. breakfast was delicious. the only drawback is that the hotel is far from the town or pretty much anything else. there's a small local resto down the street, otherwise it's restaurant food for you. or pay $10 to go into town.

Stunning hotel design and amazingly friendly staff, definitely select a room on the lake if you can, the views are lovely during the day. There is an artificial island in front of the hotel that they light up in neon red at night - I found this an odd distraction to the otherwise very peaceful/natural scenery. On the surface, it is one of the least environmentally friendly hotels I've stayed at (e.g., all water is provided in small plastic bottles, there is not a convenient option to refill them; each time housekeeping comes through, which is multiple times a day, they turn on all of the lights in the room... and there are many). My original room had a very strong sewage odor problem and it took 3 days before they moved me to another room, which made enjoying the beautiful facilities difficult. Oddly, the restaurant on the lake is only open for dinner, when it is dark and you can't enjoy the view. Unsurprisingly, food prices were high for Myanmar (e.g., grilled cheese = $12, I think the buffet was $25; $4 was the most I paid for a meal elsewhere, including nice hotels). I booked 3 full day trips - all are transportation only (no guide), all lasted 5 hours at the most and it seemed like quite a bit more could have been added to get value from the itinerary and distances traveled (e.g., the trip to Kakku/Taunggyi drives thru Taunggyi...which adds 90mins to the trip...but didn't make any stops in the city, even though there are several sites of interest).

Outstanding hotel. The location is perfect for those who want to enjoy the peaceful side of Inle Lake as the setting - hills and fields stretching behind, with the lake sprawling out from the front - is idyllic. We were greeted warmly by every member of staff we encountered, and nothing was too much trouble. They were so helpful and gracious, though never overbearing. We stayed over New Year, and the celebrations laid on by the hotel were excellent. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Sofitel Inle Lake to anyone and everyone.

We had a wonderful experience. Stayed in a lakefront room. The suite was large and clean with great AC and a comfortable bed. We had views of the lake for sunset and bird watching and the fields and marshes for sunrise. Lotus, water lilies, storks, all set against the mountains covered in mist! The hotel staff is excellent. They have golf carts to whiz you around and they are there in an instant when called. We arrived by boat and were welcomed with friendly faces eager to make our stay pleasant. The service in the restaurant was great as well and there was a variety to choose from. The dinner buffet was rather limited in selection but there are a la carte choices as well. They do need to close the doors before dusk to keep out the mosquitos! Really enjoyed our stay and would stay again!

Pretty nice hotel, people are friendly, they go out of the way to accommodate needs. Food was Ok - particularly in the restaurant facing the lake - the food at the larger restaurant was nothing to “write home about” .. in any case, considering the limited choices in the souresnding —- it is better than nothing

good hotel but rooms are far from the reception area. transportation to the main property from lake front room is erratic and not organized . called for golf cart for breakfast waited for half hour had to call twice before somebody showed up . same thing happened at check out called for golf cart took 40 min . called twice was told will send it . the pick up is haphazard and people who did not call were picked up earlier than us. not a suitable property for people who cannot walk a distance or people with disabilty . the transportation to the main property is not coordinated properly and poorly managed . we were due to visit a winery after check out on the way to airport but had to skip it as it took along time to check out. this occured when the property was not busy. i am not sure what would happen if the property was full.

The Sofitel is a clearly a new hotel, looks stunning with exceptional views and super comfortable rooms. The staff our outstanding helpful. However it’s not without faults (I would have written the following privately if there was an option to do so): 1) The food selection is poor and the standard is mediocre at best. In particular there is a strange focus on European food which is bizarre as I’m pretty sure most people that come to Lake Inle in Myanmar (an adventurous location) are not looking for “Beef Tenderloin” or “Pasta Arribiata”. This is a particular problem because the hotel is a resort, and it’s nigh on impossible to get food outside. For me this was a significant issue during my stay. 2) Staff our outstanding but are actually too attentive (it was very quiet when I stayed). For example I was woken at 2330 to be asked “if everything was ok 3) The organised tours have no guides and are not great. It’s mostly a tour of shops to get you to buy local goods. Also the boat driver (who does accompany you) doesn’t speak English and in my case, wasn’t able to understand that I wanted to stop for lunch. So I didn’t get to eat locally (which was meant to be part of the tour) 4) Staff have not really been trained to manage problems and find satisfactory resolutions. Sometimes an apology doesn’t hit the mark (I won’t go into details here) Overall, it’s a great hotel but there’s work to be done for it to hit the really high notes
