Reception staff inattentive seemed most interested in selling upgrades and extras We had an upgraded garden view further upgraded to corner garden view which looked nothing like the photo- quite small with very cramped bathroom also dated Evening food menu was very limited notably lacking local food. Just ok if you want Indian food. However the breakfast was very good. The hotel should make more of the amazing extensive gardens

Our apartment room was one of the best rooms we have stayed. Easily 1500 square feet, and a terrific bathroom with large bath and shower. The staff in the bar area were all very young and inexperienced. They had to ask what makes up an Aperol Spritz and it looked like the bar tender had never opened a bottle of wine before: once he had eventually located thr requested bottle. But as they were very friendly, it really wasn't an issue for us. If you are looking for a larger room near Chester, you need to consider this hotel.

Really nice hotel on the outskirts of Chester. Lovely room with high quality linen ware. Breakfast was excellent and was served promptly which is ideal when having to run off to work in the morning. Will definitely stay here when I’m back in the area

The staff were friendly but very green, during an evening meal and breakfast we had to ask several times for things like water, coffee and toast and some of these things didn't arrive at all. They are pleasant but need more training on staying on top of orders and clearing the tables. Breakfast is strange with you being charged £17 to have access to the continental and light breakfast menu, and then you having to pay an extra £5 for more premium items like a full English. Why not just say it will be £22 to begin with. There was an event on at the hotel which lasted until midnight. We were told we couldn't move to another room and nothing but an apology was provided. Things like this need to be communicated at the point of booking or at least the point of check-in. The hotel should have forseen this and moved non event guests to the rooms furthest away from the ballroom. The spa was nice but overcrowded. More loungers and chairs are needed for when the spa hits it's peak use hours.

Cold food at dinner and when the replacement came the fish was actually raw in the middle. Even though I ate none of it and the polite server told me that it would be deducted from my bill, it wasn't and the receptionist had to go and ask permission to take it off the bill on checkout. It was embarrassing. We ate out of the hotel the following night. Also the rules have changed so pool entry is prohibited once you have checked out of your room. All staff used to be wonderful and some remain in this vain but some really cannot be bothered and one was rude. The place remains very clean and is a credit to housekeeping team. A disappointing stay after previous good experiences.

This is a cosy little hotel. Staff are friendly and there is a personal touch. Swimming pool is lovely and well maintained The stand out for me though are the gardens. They are amazing

Room was clean and comfortable. The staff were amazing, so friendly, kind and and helpful. Breakfast was okay. Expensive for what you get and wasn’t the best I’ve had. Bar staff great. Sat outside as weather was gorgeous so can’t comment on the inside.

Lovely hotel, staff very friendly and helpful, great spa area I'd say my only negative is the Sunday roast, felt like it was just plated up, potatoes very dry, and food wasn't hot enough But overall would recommend and would stay again

Cold welcome. Disgusting bathroom - I ran a bath and it was yellow and scummy. I had to find a cleaner to help me out, because the phone in the room didn’t work (however, the cleaner was lovely). Filthy windows. Tatty bed covering. All in all, it feels like a faded glory kind of situation. In the end I drove home rather than sleep there. The place just has a weird vibe.

Breakfast was excellent. The room was spacious and nicely decorated, but needs some updating. Thete was plenty of space for more drawers for clothes, a table/ rack for a suitcase , and a small table between the chairs would have been useful. The pool and spa area was excellent. The gardens are lovely. The restaurant was heavily influenced by spice - too much for older taste buds, but the chef was accommodating!
