A nicely kept hotel in a quiet area of Thamel. The room was clean and simple. Very nice for Thamel. The service was wonderful, especially Sussil and the front desk. Breakfast on the rooftop was much better than expected. Azaya the chef was excellent! I would stay here again.

Pros. / Cons Location. We'll located and at the end of a dead-end, so quieter. / On the outer edge of Thamel. Room: Big and pretty clean with mini bar and good AC / No soundproofing with the main stairway or outside. No blinds in bathroom leaving you exposed to many neighbors eyes. Shower pressure is weak and temperature varies A LOT during the shower. Also, no shelf in the shower to put soap or shampoo. Minibar temperature is set to room temperature. There's a random hole in the wall. Pretty strong moth ball smell in the room and sheets smell of bleach. Service: Friendly staff who attend well to the guests needs, responsive and adaptable. Room cleaning is very well done. / We picked this hotel for their advertised laundry service on site (a rare find in KTM as mentioned by hotels.com) but they have the same itemized laundry service as every other hotel (expensive). Property:Equipped with a generator for frequent power outages. Internet is good (except on the roof top) and fast. Seems like when power shortage happens, certain breakers pop, leaving you unable to charge devices in the room. When mentioned, they come back to life a little after but this happened only 1x out of about 5-6 outages in 2 days. A bit overpriced when compared to a nicer hotel we stayed at a week ago just nearby.

The front desk staff were nice, and the location of the hotel is super convenient. The comforter in my room had red stains, which looked like lipstick, and the toilet cover was broken. The main complaint I have about this place is breakfast. I had to wait for more than 1 hour for eggs and bacon, which is outrageous, so I left and bought breakfast somewhere else, even though breakfast was included in the price of the room.

We fully enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Its in the Thamal area but at the end of a small alley off the main road. So we have the best of convenience and quiteness at the same time. I would high commend Sonit Sreesty the manager to make sure our stay comfortable. Fresh Breakfast included everyday as well as one free ride to the airport. The roof top restaurant made good food from fresh, price is reasonable but it really took the time to get food ready - almost 2 hours for a lunch. No elevator could be a downside but consider you could have a human touch to ask someone to take the luggage for you and provide works for them that's not a bad idea. All in all, I have no reservation to book it again if I will be in Kathmandu again for business purpose.

I had the suite, and it was on the first floor which was not soundproof. I believe the staff would eaves drop on my conversations while in the room because when I expressed in private to my friend that I was not a fan of the room. The manager then confronted me about it in an unprofessional and rude manner.

The room I had was very spacious and comfortable. They were able to get a room cleaned so I could have early check-in. I booked a tour through Devendra and it was a fantastic experience and ran so smoothly. When I come back I am definitely coming back to this hotel

I recently spent five and a half nights at the Himalayan Ghar hotel, and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted by the warm and friendly staffs. They went out of their way to ensure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable, always ready to assist with a smile. The hotel itself is an independent building, offering a sense of security knowing that staff members are present around the clock. My room was not only clean and well-maintained but also incredibly comfortable, providing the perfect sanctuary after a long day of exploring. While there were occasional issues with the hot water for showering, it was nothing more than a minor inconvenience and was completely manageable. Plus, the rooftop dining area more than made up for it, offering a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy my meals. The location of the Himalayan Ghar couldn't be better, situated in the heart of Tamel with easy walking access to all the central district attractions. There's no shortage of excellent restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops nearby, making it incredibly convenient for travelers. Additionally, although the laundry service is outsourced, it was both inexpensive and impeccably done, adding to the overall convenience of staying at this fantastic hotel. Overall, my time at the Himalayan Ghar was truly memorable, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again in the future.
