The country house is situated in the most idyllic place, surrounded by beautiful gardens, which you can relax in, and outstanding views of the surrounding fells. The property itself is to the highest standards with large immaculate bedrooms. Breakfast is delicious, with the finest ingredients and a varied menu, served by friendly, helpful staff. I would highly recommend and will definitely return.

A truly evocative stay, in the heart of the Lakes & so convenient to both amazing walks and Ambleside. Iconically old fashioned, but everything is to an amazing standard. Breakfast is all fresh & local. It might be a great side if they offered (pre-booked) packed lunches?

Great place to stay. Spotlessly clean rooms. Comfy bed and beautiful spot. Good range of breakfast menu options. 10 minutes walk to Ambleside. We would definitely stay again.

Amazing property with spectacular scenery.

Bedroom was slightly dated, breakfast was a bit stingy and breakfast timings weren’t especially flexible. It was a 1 hour window between 8:30 and 9:30 which I feel is quite late given the season and need to set off early to catch the sights and no options for grab and go breakfasts even when we asked. Bathroom was a stand out in terms of facilities and the location was amazing. A B&B needs to be successful in two areas, a bed and breakfast. This location was just so so on both. For the price asked I’d suggest pay a little more and get the better alternatives locally or pay a lot less and go further afield. This was a not great middle ground.

Fabulous location with lovely walks in many directions right from the doorstep. Nice room with great en-suite and lovely Bath House toiletries. Delicious breakfast with lots of choice and the hot selection was really well cooked. Friendly and efficient staff - would definitely recommend and stay again.

A lovely peaceful property with easy access to Ambleside and walks over to Rydal. A brilliant breakfast and the hotel itself was so clean. We would love to return soon

Outstanding… if you don’t mind being a little away from the noisy (relatively speaking) downtown, then this is the best choice. I drove myself so for me it was extremely convenient.

Excellent stay, very comfortable and clean room. Beautiful surroundings and walks. Staff very accommodating and helpful. Allowed us to leave our car for a couple hours after check out while we went on a ramble. Will stay again

Very tranquil

This was the highlight of our trip to England! Convenient access to walking trails, stepping stones, gardens, downtown, climbing caves as well as a bus stop let us wander through the Lakes District effortlessly! The English Breakfast was splendid.

The property was clean and the staff were very helpful. Me and my wife would stay here again and we would recommend this property to our friends.
