The hotel was nice. I went with my family (my wife and little daughter) and we enjoy it. The staff is actually a family and they were very kind and friendly. The food was good, basically homemade. The room was clean, no so big but was enough for us. For the price the accommodation was very good.

Comfortable accommodations with a roof top patio. Breakfast and simple dinner available with advance request. Easy bus access to town. Hard for taxi drivers to find it but map with address is available.

Chez Elena is a bit out of the way with not much within walking distance. We showed up around 7pm and were not given the room we booked. They either don't have access to or don't check their reservations. However, Elena was very nice and cleaned another room for us right away. The rooms are very, very basic. The curtains did not block light, and I'm sure people could see right into the rooms at night. Hot water was also iffy. I had a hot shower but my husband did not. While removed from Old Town, the neighborhood is still very loud at night and we did not sleep at all. WiFi is also spotty. The positives are that Elena is extremely nice and accommodating. She made a delicious and generous breakfast, and she even shared with us tortillas made with homemade masa flour her previous guests had gifted to her. She also hunted at length for tape for us to fix a rip in our bag.

Guesthouse is a correct statement. You are in someone else's home and the owner who is a bit of a moody character lets you know it. Didn't get a warm, fuzzy feeling in this place. Not very accessible to historic area and not worth the money you save by staying here.

Loved the place and would happily go back again. I recommend checking out some of the day trips they have to offer - you basically get your own personal tour guide :-).

The family are very kind and helpful and even picked me up at the airport when I arrived very late at night. They are also creative and there is a cool, arty feel to the place. Enjoyed my stay very much!

Convenient family-type atmosphere. Closer to the airport than most. Several steps down from the street and several steps up to our room. Not for handicapped travellers.

I made a quick stay at Chez Elena before heading to the airport the following morning. The proprietors were fantastic hosts. They were friendly, cooked a great dinner, and helped us out with our travel needs (convenient airport shuttle service, for example). It was a pretty small operation and was much more like a homestay than a hotel. The place was a bit difficult to get to (Hotels.com has the wrong address up), and likely requires a taxi to get to anything in the city. The rooms were nice, the building was beautiful, and I wouldn't mind staying there again.

Although this inn is out of the city, there is a bus stop right outside, and it's about a 20 bus ride to downtown. Paco and Elena are wonderful, friendly people. Their son, Dario, speaks English. They do their own tours, which were excellent. Excellent value at this guest house. The house is like an art museum. Paco is a noted Ecuadorian artist. The breakfasts are fine. Hot water for showers is limited or missing.

Stay one night at this place. On arrival had to wait on the street for 45min until the owners arrived (in spite of the email sent the previous day). House is nice and clean. The location of the place is far from anything ($15-$20 cab ride from airport)- good thing they offered diner as there are no restaurant nearby. Bring hear plugs for the night: everyone has a dog in the neighbourhood. Very friendly family, good value in spite of location.

The owners are wonderful, and very friendly. I will stay there again. You will have to either take a taxi or bus, to get to the tourists sites, but easy to do

This is a very lovely, new, clean, and hospitable hotel. It is a 20 minute bus ride from downtown Quito, which makes it a bit hard to find. I do heartily recommend it, however. Just remember to get the hotel's local number from Hotels.com before you come, so the taxi driver can call to get directions if needed. Alternatively, print the map located on the Hotels.com website and bring it along with you. The owners live right next door. They serve breakfast and dinner. It seems more like a B&B but you have your own private bedroom with its alloted bathroom in the adjoining hallway. The hot water works. Overall, an excellent stay at a quite remarkable price. Oh, the bus line is very convenient into town, picking you up and dropping you off just 100 feet from the hotel. 5 stars except for the location. The wifi signal is weak, but I'll get them to work on it.
