The resort on the outside was beautiful and well kept. We were very excited when we arrived. As soon as we got to our room, everything changed. The first room we were in had a strong smell of cigarette smoke, so strong we couldn’t breathe. We found mold that had been painted over in the bathrooms regrowing. When letting the front desk know about this, they spoke to one another in Spanish saying we were complaining (they didn’t realize we also spoke Spanish and could understand what they were saying). Extremely unprofessional. Other people were at the desk sharing that they hadn’t had hot water for days. They finally set us into another room hours later and that one didn’t smell, but after a scan of the room we saw that there was still mold and now blood splatter on the curtains! The food was not “resort” worthy. There were flies and roaches crawling on people’s toes while they were eating. When going to get food from the gelato and pizza places, staff had an attitude if you tried to actually get more than one serving of the “unlimited food” being offered. None of the food was appetizing or satisfactory for a “five star resort” in the buffet or the restaurants. Buffet staff were cordial but not very friendly. This stay gets 2 stars from us because the outside grounds were nice. Beautiful view of the sunset and mountains but beaches were dirty with trash. Felt safe but night life was loud at night. For my family who lives in FL, we were not impressed for the money spent.

Was terrible. The beach is bad, full of rocks. The service was bad. I asked for my rooms to be next to each other because we had minors they didnt do that. I asked ahead of time at least by a month. On the weekends the locals over run the place . They are rude , when we walked in there dozens of people in the front getting rooms at last minute. They accomodate them but not us who had resevertions weeks ahead. The staff is rude and they only say hi to you until you turn them down that you dont want to buy their membership. Then they continue to be rude. The food is a hot mess. They open the buffet area at limited time thus creating long lines where the locals cut you off. You have to wake up early to get breakfast because they close at 10 am, they reopen from 1 to 3 and then they dont open until 6:30pm. So if you come in at 3pm for check in you jave to wait until 6:30 pm for the long lines. The food got worse as the days when by. It was bland and repetitive. The rooms were ok except the sink had a sign not to drink and barely any water came out. We bought bottles of water to brush our teeth. The worst experience. The bathrooms were limited, if you were by the beach you jad to walk far, sometimes it was easier to go to your room. The locals were loud and the pools crowded, we preferare the beach, but the beach was dead due to the poor quality if the beach. The beach was full of rocks,corals and seaweed. Last year we went to playa dorada and the beaches there were beautiful.

This property was absolutely horrible. We had four rooms during our stay and each one had issues. Beginning on the first night, the toilet and shower was clogged, spewing human waste. Outlets did not work, the lamps next to the bed were rusty and dirty. The sheets on the mattress were stained. Multiple members of our party have allergies and despite us mentioning it to the resort, the food was always incorrect. Throughout our stay, the power went out almost twice a day. Each time we went to the buffet we were unable to eat without having to wait because there were never any plates or glasses. We’d ask for drinks and were told there was no beer. Truly disgusted with our experience and despite us complaining multiple times to different members of the staff, nothing was ever resolved. The supervisor of guest services is an absolutely horrible human being, Melvin. Do not recommend this place one bit.

The hotel has beautiful facilities, however, there is no air conditioner in the rooms, fridge was not working, and the balcony door was broken. The check in process was lengthy and there was only one person that could check in travelers who booked through Expedia. The service was also horrible, especially in the Larimar Buffet. Servers had an attitude. Plates were not readily available for guests. The drinking water was warm and when ice was requested it was not available, or I had to ask several employees. The employees at the buffet do not follow food safety protocols and mishandled food. Several guests in my party ended up with food poisoning. Overall, it was a terrible experience.

Service was poor. We told the management our ac was not working and our doors were not closing properly, never did anything on the 3 days we stayed. The buffet was with a limited variety of food and always full of people, making impossible to find plates, cups or tables. The Japanese restaurant had us waiting infront of the door for like 15 minutes because there was nobody there to receive us, and the other 15 people that were behind and infront of us. Staff was also rude at the moment of asking for the minimum service.

Let's start with the positives. The whole place is extremely clean. The wi-fi is superb and everywhere. The toiletries are great. Nobody wants to stay a week in a place with terrible toilet paper. The locale is beautiful and the food is decent. There are plenty of pools to enjoy. The not so greats/ info I wish I had - The air conditioning can not keep up with humidity. The indoor places including the rooms feel sticky and the temperature was about 73 at the lowest. A tiny fan is helpful. There are no washcloths, even though the soap is liquid. Bring something to use in the shower. The "concierge" is a ploy to get you to do the 90 minute tour. Knowing that ahead of time will help you make better decisions. There is no potable water in DR so bring a water container to take with you to the bars. They provide two large bottles in the room. The beach is rocky so bring water shoes to enjoy it. Both the pools and the beach close at 6 pm. That was a real let down, we are night owls and I am very fair skinned. They bombard you with info when you check in and nothing is written down. Knowing the daily events board is on the wall between the excursions place and the buffet restaurant will help. Some days there will be daytrippers from cruises. It can get crowded at the buffet. If I had known these things I would have had a different mindset for my vacation. I hope this is helpful so you can enjoy yours.

The overall vibe of the hotel waa great. The website lists an arcade- there is no arcade. No billiards table, only one single ping pong table. Activities were come and go. We found the dining room very chaotic at meal times. This was the first hotel that we experienced running out of dishes every single meal, and brought our own glasses and coffee mugs from our room to ensure we could get drinks. The buffet food was always delicious though! The shows were fantastic- the dancers were amazing 👏 Activities team was fun and worked hard to make sure guests were having fun. We were there over 2 holidays for 2 countries- July 1 for Canada and July 4 for USA. They didn't do anything to recognize Canada Day, but went all out with decos and a show for July 4. A tip to the hotel would be don't just celebrate one country's holiday, you should do them all or none. A large group of us Canadians noticed. Overall it was a good week, but the hotel has some logistics to work out. I hope they treat their staff well, because the staff were all wonderful! Oh we also got roped in to the 'presentation' for the Ultra Luxury Club... offered a free VIP lunch and a chance to win a free week at the hotel turned into an afternoon of aggressive sales and rudeness when we said we weren't interested in investing into their program. Steer CLEAR of this presentation!

Contrary to comments I read, I'm happy that I went for the experience for myself. The 1st room we were given was average, but the balcony was by a marsh and the mosquitoes almost ate me alive. They were TONS of them. I called from desk and they moved us quickly into a more comfortable room. The food options were ok. I wish they did more local kinds of food. The specialty restaurants were the best, except the Italian restaurant needs an Italian chef. The food was subpar. We left and didn't order dinner. The beach was nice but we perferred the beach on the "local" side better. The rooms need makeovers and updates but over all a good hotel for the price.

there is no cable no Netflix no movie options whatsoever you can say there’s nothing on TV. They got six channels and most of it is in Spanish two news channels the same and one music channel poor poor every hotel I’ve been to even cheaper ones have had cable and better TV options and the Jacuzzi is always cold. I’ve never been in a cold Jacuzzi. I’m talking all week Jacuzzi or hot tubs are supposed to be hot or at least very warm not ice cold.
