Rooms were outdated and beds were extremely uncomfortable. The lights/electric kept leaving during stay.

All the activities and surroundings are beautiful. The dinner buffet can improve a little bit. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

The resort is clean, friendly staff, lots of activities, even times they served food on the beach. The ocean water is warm, the sand is soft.

Everything about our stay at Playabachata was excellent from start to finish. The service was outstanding — the staff was friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with a smile. From check-in to check-out, we felt truly welcomed and taken care of. The resort was clean, beautiful, and well maintained. The food was delicious with great variety, the drinks were always available, and the entertainment kept the atmosphere fun and lively. The beach and pools were amazing, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the views. This was an unforgettable experience, and we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. We would absolutely return and recommend Playabachata to anyone visiting Puerto Plata. Thank you for such a wonderful vacation!

I had selected a "superior" room but it wasn't. I requested twice to be transferred to another room, which happened to be even worst. Bathroom wasn't even decent, shower broken and bath tub stained, dirty curtains, electric outlets broken, no wifi, and very uncomfortable room. We had to switch to the Senator side, and enroll in Ultimate Leisure Club to have a real vacation, as we previously planned. I have photos and videos in case you need them.

We got really sick due to the food or water. The room was clean but looks a little outdated. The manager's at the front desk name Grabriella was very nasty when ask for late check out due to my mom being very sick. the staff was very nice. But this resort is a 2 star. The premise was clean and taking care of. The pool is somewhat small and the beach lounge chairs were mostly broken.

I loved it here. The staff was great, every room had a balcony, the buffet had enough variety. Plenty of bars during the day and entertainment at night.

Room ceiling was leaking and wet all my clothes and caused me to fall several times. Attention was terrible. I asked for towels and blankets (which I shouldn’t even have needed to ask for, it should have already been provided) and didn’t receive them till hours later. Didn’t restock fridge , which they did before every morning. And you could see the attention difference. I, who am American, received good attention at bars and restaurants. While my husband’s family, who are from the Dominican Rep. would get treated poorly and ignored. So there is preference now? Do we not all pay the same price? Do better.

Pros:on a beautiful beach, friendly waiters, maid service and entertainment staff. They tried with fun interactive activities at the pool and at the beach. Grounds are nice and well maintained. Cons:the food was horrible, contaminated water, our family got severe stomach problems. The plastic cups used are not cleaned properly. The front desk staff was rude, mean and nasty. We asked for a late check for my 78 year mom since she was very sick and they said the would get security to escort her out. Chairs on the beach were broken, not enough towels, no conditioner in rooms, the rooms were outdated. The electricity went out 4 times we were in pitch darkness. The pool area is outdated and small.

Do not go. I had to leave the Dominican Republic with me girlfriend due to the travel company that Expedia provided me with, Coco Tours. We had gotten picked up from the airport by this man who appeared to be on drugs. A couple minutes into the ride he drove on the wrong side of the road, swerved into other lanes, and was on his phone distracted by phone calls, text messages and youtube. He attempted to make stops at places that he apparently needed to. One was to give money to his "brother" who needed food, and he even tried taking us to his "office". At this point he kept stopping at random alley ways that were very sketchy, and we were in fear for our lives at this point. My girlfriend and I yelled at him to take us back to the airport. The area was not safe so we decided to fly back to the U.S. He refused to a couple of times but then eventually listened. I tried getting a refund through Expedia, from Playabachata, and Coco Tours, but I was denied any sort of compensation. I am an Army veteran, and my girlfriend is a college student, and dealing with this situation caused us great stress. Do not go through Expedia, do not book through Playabachata, or Coco Tours, as they obviously do not care about our safety, our situation that we were put in, and to provide any sort of refund given our circumstance. The lack of empathy is ridiculous and shows character about all of these organizations.
