When we arrived, we almost didn’t go in because the parking lot clearly had a locking gate and we were concerned about the safety of the neighborhood. We had just returned from a 32 day Cruise and wanted to go shopping for the afternoon without all our luggage. The front door was locked and when the employee came to the door, we asked if we could store our luggage until we returned for checkin later that day. He was very accommodating and helped take our luggage to a room where it could be stored until we returned. While we were taking our luggage into the hotel we could tell that a lot of effort had been made to update the inside of the hotel and even though it is an old building it had been through a renovation and seemed as nice as an old building could be. We were told that the parking lot would be locked from 8 pm until 7 am, so if we wanted our car secured we needed to return before 8 pm. It reminded us of more of a Hostel, since some rooms have a shared bathroom. We had requested a private bathroom which resulted in our being assigned to the handicap accessible room which worked well for our needs. The bed was not as comfortable as we had hoped, but it was not terrible either and we did get a good nights sleep. The employee went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. We definitely plan to stay here again when we return for another cruise in the future. They had a small Ice machine only 1-2 quarts.
