A generally all round good find in the town centre with everything walkable to the Málecon it's cafes & restaurants & also a supermarket.
Equally to the centre of the San Felipe district for coffee, shops and the central square.
The hotel itself is billed as a 2* but is better than that.
It is clean & secure with a 24 hour reception & a small car park attached.
It has lovely rooftop terrace with a bar open from 6pm local time with amazing views over Puerto Plata & accesible from the 2nd floor by another staircase.
Well worth a stay for budget travellers & great value for money.
The Bus station(Metro Tranaportes) is around 600 metres away walking time of 10 minutes but uphill on the way there.
Puerto Plata itself is safe, very pretty old town.
For travel options out there are taxi & motoconchos(motorbike taxis who you can spot as they wear orange gillets.
The north of the country is clean, green & beautiful.
Finally tours of local rum factory (Brugal) are available
