Had dropped our bags off earlier in the day, got back to hotel at 10pm, night porter wanted to go eventhough the details say it is manned until 10:30. Porter offered no help with our bags, 2 women up stairs. While sections of the hotel have been updated the reception has the most terrible threadbare carpet. Breakfast is basic served by people who only come in for that. So the hotel is unmanned during the night.

I booked a double and ended up getting room 9 at the top with a fantastic view. It was spacious, modern and the en-suite bathroom was lovely. I would definitely book again as so convenient.

Loved the location on the water. Staff great. Beds comfortable. Close to South Downs Way trail end. 10 minute bus to train station

Traveling as a single person I felt very safe, I loved the single room that was comfortable, had everything you could possibly need.Lorraine who helped with the breakfast was absolutely wonderful, she is an asset to the Hotel.I would recommend the Halycon to anyone looking to stay in the area.I would live a return visit. The owner was very accommodating with a late check in. Loved the whole experience.

Bathroom lock is not working

I enjoyed a two night stay The room was clean and well equipped The staff were friendly and welcoming The hotel was by the beach with easy access to shops and restaurants and a wonderful walk along Beachy Head

Great spot at the quieter end of town. My room had a lovely view. Bed was comfy. A few things not working- the wifi only worked in the corridor or in the room, the clock needs a battery and the water pressure in the shower was poor. Other than that all good!

Can’t fault helpfulness of staff. Room was simple but comfortable with sea view. Chest of drawers and coat stand. En suite toilet, wash basin and shower. Down side of hotel: No parking, scaffolding on front elevation, no lift, residential area away from town.

Very friendly staff , warm, spacious, modernised room with a beautiful sea view. Would like to come back here again. Enjoyed my stay .

Pros: room looked nice and modern, everything was tidy and clean and cleaning service was great.the windows were nice and big and the view vas nice as well Cons: the mattress in room 8 was terible, it needs replacing as could feel every spring and when siting down you just sink through it. The room was cold in the morning and there was a weird smell in the hallway when you reach around second floor.

Nice place to stay room had a good sea view nice friendly staff clean tidy comfortable would definitely stay again when back in Eastbourne.

Convenient position for the the theatre and food

Had a lovely 2 night stay here. Absolutely amazing view of the sea from my room, couldn’t get enough of waking up to it. Definitely booking The Halcyon again when I’m back in Eastbourne. Thanks to all the staff for being so amazing and helpful! Lots of love and best wishes.

Reception not manned, room and bathroom in poor state

The young guy acting front desk needs to seriously Buck up his presentation skills and front desk manner. Was like being served by a shell suit prat. Tv didn’t work, which seemed to be a known issue, and he huffed and puffed and tutted as he lamely attempted to sort it. Knowing he couldn’t. I got a refund and left at 9.30pm. Rather risking find somewhere else to stay. Which I did - the Lansdowne. Much much better and they did me a price £15 higher and well worth it. You prat
