Extremely friendly staff, fab hotel

Super helpful and friendly staff throughout the hotel which really elevated our stay.

Great time

This is a wonderful hotel. The room was amazing as was the restaurant. Easy walk to the castle, shopping and restaurants. The lack of parking or a place for drop off/pick up is annoying.

I arrived late in the evening and was delighted to arrive at the parkgate hotel. My room was beautiful, staff so helpful and my breakfast the next morning was lovely. Will definitely stay again.

I thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Its proximity to the train station was appealing to me, but I liked the location for many other reasons as well — close to shopping, restaurants and sights while still being quiet. The staff was excellent and the spa a wonderful indulgence. I was in a suite and loved the huge sofa to relax in!

What a beautiful hotel The Parkgate is. We couldn’t have picked better for our stay in Cardiff. The check in was very welcoming and warm, we had arrived early and were very grateful our room was ready. The decor of the hotel was fitting for its history and it was immaculate throughout. Our accessible room was spacious and very well equipped for a perfect nights stay. Breakfast was also a positive experience with great produce and friendly service. A luxury experience on every level. Thank you to the lovely staff and the beautiful accommodation.

Carpet in room had 2 large stains apart from that it was nice. Felt quite judged by the staff upon our stay as if we were not worthy of staying there. I was treating my girlfriend for a nice quiet weekend away and didn't feel very welcome there by the staff. Don't quite feel the price of our room was reflected in our stay. Neither of us opted for breakfast due to the high extra cost. Would rather go to a nice cafe than spend that much if I'm really honest. I understand the need for taking card details etc for security against potential damages but it would be nice to do this before arrival and check in. Wasn't made aware until arrival when staff required and demanded £50 be paid. I have no objection but if you are doing this it should be notified before arrival surely. Unless staff are more receiving of all guests, the hidden costs are outlined clearly and the price reflects the true value of a nights stay I won't stay again.

Lovely stay for hubby's birthday

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were so welcoming, the room gorgeous and I don't think we'd stay anywhere else.

Lovely hotel. Great location. To nit pick: the late night in room service menu was very limited. You have to pay extra to use the hydro spa amenities which is far from ideal.
