Great location friendly staff. Clean room.

This hotel is walking distance to all the main areas, which is great. Check in and out was easy and fast. My interaction with the staff was minimal so I can't say anything about that. There was a slight oder once I enter the room but the bed was comfortable a.s soft.

I'd chalk up my experience as a good example of you get what you pay for. Staff were friendly and willing to help us with whatever oddball questions I had about their policies and the shuttle service! As far as the room goes, well, you get a room. Rooms are heated/cooled using an A/C unit on the wall by the window, which made for a rather cold arrival until turned on. Room was clean aside from an odd smell that I never really found the source of along with a hair-clogged shower drain, which I didn't bother calling for maintenance and dealt with it then and there. The bedframe was rather long for the mattress that was there, and I had snagged my ankle on it more than a couple times. I just put my pack right beside it and that solved the issue for me. I wouldn't call it the best hotel experience I've ever had, though on the other hand I was strapped for cash as far as lodging funds went. As far as what I was paying for a night here, I feel that it was a pretty alright experience. All I was looking for was a place to drop my gear and a roof over my head, and it delivered!

ALWYSE GOOD WHEN NEEDED

Great location within walking distance to the dock and all of the shops. Coffee is provided in the morning. Bedding was very clean. There is no continental breakfast anymore that some past reviews talk about. Staff was very friendly. It was quiet at night and there is a washer and dryer there. The hotel needs some work, it is an older hotel. The toilet barely flushed, and the room had a musty smell. If you just want a place to sleep and shower, and be close to fishing and shops, it works. My boyfriend was fine with it, but I would prefer to stay somewhere a little nicer next time we visit Sitka.

Sitka is a wonderful place to visit. Baranof Lodge is very convenient

It smelled bad. Dark and dingy. Dirty bathtub. Inadequate lighting. No drinking cups. Evidence of water damage. Only one small pillow. Other than all of this, it was marvelous!

Plan ahead and avoid troubles associated with overbooked hotels. Don't believe all the bad reviews, make your own opinion. We enjoyed the Baranof lodge and it's staff. Be patient, it's a small down and they share housekeeping and shuttle driver. We will for sure stay again at the Baranof lodge

This is an old, cheaply built motel. Clean enough but very basic. Location is not bad for walking around Sitka.

The blankets used were old mattress covers. Could hear footsteps up above, and all down the hallway. We paid over 250/night…way too much for the rough shape it was in.

Excellent budget hotel. Very convenient to coffee shop and food trucks.

It’s a very old, beaten down hotel that smells like mold. Not worth $224 a night. Service was great and excellent location but for the price you’d expect something nicer.
