- I'm deducting 2 stars because of the terrible attitude and incredibly condescending and dismissive way the receptionist spoke. Simply put, on my first day, my room didn't have hot water, so I called down to ask.
- The first time, the receptionist asked me: "Have you turned on the hot water yet?" I thought: "I've been to so many hotels around the world, surely I know how to turn on the hot and cold water?" I wouldn't call the receptionist if there was a real problem.
- After lunch, I called again, and the receptionist sent someone up to handle it. The person who came up to handle it also had a harsh and unfriendly attitude, deducting another star for them. Simply put, they went in, turned on the water for over 5 minutes, adjusted the hot and cold settings, and then said to me: "I've already adjusted it. Let me go downstairs and adjust it again." At this point, I thought: "Ahhh, it'll probably be okay." But no, I waited and waited all night and the water still wasn't hot, so the next morning I decided to go straight down to the reception desk to talk to them for convenience. While I was there, I also asked why I booked two rooms with sea views but only got rooftop views, with no sea view at all.
I politely asked: "Excuse me, why did I book two rooms with sea views but all I can see is the rooftop?" At this point, the receptionist was still in a good mood and replied: "Sir, the room category you booked only allows you to stay on the 5th or 6th floor." I replied: "Okay, I understand, but at least it should be on the 5th or 6th floor. Right now I'm on the 3rd floor and all I can see is the rooftop and not a single bit of sea view." Then she checked something on the computer and came back up to say: "Okay, we'll change it for you. The new room will probably be available after 12 noon." I replied: "Okay, no problem, I'll go get something to eat and then change rooms." Then she asked me, "Do you need any further assistance?"
- And here's the "international 5-star" attitude of the Movenpick Phan Thiet receptionist. I asked the receptionist, "Excuse me, why is there still no hot water in my room and my parents' room?" She asked me, "Sir, we've already sent staff up to handle this, haven't we?" I calmly replied, "Yes, they did go up and said they would come down to fix something, but there was no hot water all day and all night. It's fine for adults, but my family has a 7-month-old baby, so we need hot water for bathing, washing bottles, etc."
- The receptionist's attitude changed completely, and she asked me, "Sir, is it that there's no hot water or that the water isn't hot enough to your liking?"
- Did you all read carefully??? => "Sir, is it that there's no hot water or that the water isn't hot enough to your liking?" <= That's the attitude of a hotel receptionist at a "5-star international standard" hotel. They're being sarcastic and contemptuous towards customers. And yet they call it "5-star standard" :)))
- I'm deducting another star for the first day I checked in because the baggage handler had a terrible and extremely impolite attitude towards my mother. When we got to the room, my mother asked the baggage handler: "Hey, why are the lights in this room so dim?" The handler immediately retorted: "It's just dim here," in an unpleasant tone and with an extremely impolite attitude. See... also a "5-star" employee...
- 5 stars minus 4 stars equals 1 star. Why? Simply because the room is spacious, comfortable, clean, and well-soundproofed. The breakfast at the restaurant was okay, and the staff were lovely, especially the manager who was very considerate. Unlike those receptionists and baggage handlers who were so rude when we first entered the hotel.
- Note: The hotel has two electric carts parked nearby but refused to take guests to the beach. Other truly 4-5 star hotels would proactively ask guests for rides, not wait for them to ask. In general, the reception and baggage handling staff were terrible, and their attitude was completely unworthy of the "international 5-star standard" claim.
- In short: Extremely disappointed, a waste of money, and utterly disgusted with the staff's attitude.
