The hotel was generally good but the pool area lacked something and I’m not sure. Could do with cleaning more as today it had a lot of flies/wasps and bits gathering at the steps, water didn’t look a great colour. Bathroom in my room smelt of sewerage, did not improve after calling reception. My daughter had raw/undercooked chicken in her chicken wrap and she ate some of it without realising. Spoke with the management but it didn’t seem to matter. Not the best experience and some staff were slow to bring drinks, today I waited 20mins and there was no one else at the pool

My stay at Kwanza was amazing, stayed here for my honeymoon and my wife really loved the resort. We stayed in one of the swim up rooms which was a nice added feature. The only thing I could fault this hotel is the drainage system in the shower and sink is a bit slow to go down the drain other than that everything is 5 star. I would definitely stay here again and the staff were all amazing and accommodating.

The stay was definitely what I would describe as a paradise resort, great food and entertainment and the staff are very friendly. With the only slight feedback being they had a lot of power cuts through the stay and water cuts occasionally but it was fixed once reported. A slight bit of maintenance needs to be done with regards to rust but is very difficult with the type of climate in Zanzibar but overall I would recommend this as a 5 star location in Zanzibar, thank you.

I loved this property. The staff was very nice and helpful throughout my entire stay. They have many food options at the resort and they have different activities for free, painting on Mondays and Fridays were my favorite.

A very beautiful property. Super nice staff. Very over priced and underwhelming with Meal options. Buffet style without meal plan is $45 per person per meal per a day! I do a lot of traveling and thats the most ridiculously price I have ever had. When checking out, additional $70 was added to the final bill. Once again, highest taxes I have experienced within my time of traveling. Will definitely visit Zanzibar again, but will prefer another hotel!!

Zanzibar is a beautiful island, however Kwanza doesn’t live up to its 5 star rating. Food - terrible, food was stale, rehashed from the day before and the same food nearly every day. Service - not great, we had a few issues, like a flood into our room - which were very poorly handled - overall they just didn’t seem to care about much. If we were paying $250 per night, there would be no complaints but they are asking the same rates as Dubai with nowhere near the same level of service or hospitality.

It’s an amazing place,I will recommend kwanza to anyone who wants to have a quiet and peaceful get away, it’s unique, the staffs are very welcoming, the food is nice, What I didn’t like was the payment process during reservation, I had clicked payment upon arrival, but I was debited immediately I keyed in my account details. That didn’t seat well with me. But apart from that, kwanza is very nice place.

To Ibrahim , Lucas , Mwansuda and Mercy thank you so much for making our staying better

Our stay here was amazing! Beautiful resort and staff. Everyone is so nice and friendly. The buffet style food was fresh and good. The rooms were clean and kept cool. We enjoyed the outdoor shower. Great views for pictures and videos if you’re a content creator or just enjoy doing so. I would definitely recommend this resort.

The resort is beautiful but quite remote. The beach is not usable for watersports or sunbathing, although there is a man-made sandy area near the pool. The people are very friendly and welcoming, but the service is often slow and chaotic. We had to ask multiple times for drinks, often waiting over 30 minutes. The electricity failed many times during our stay, once for almost an entire day. The toilets didn’t flush during the power outages, which was unpleasant. It woke us up frequently during the night as the aircon would stop and restart. The shop does not take cards, although the reception below has a card machine. I was walked 5 minutes away to the spa to pay. There is no ATM. They suddenly implemented a towel card system midway through our stay, after days of no beach towels being available. We had not been given cards and the staff at reception didn’t know about the new system. The All-In drinks menu is very limited and AI guests have to pay for everything after 11pm. This was very disappointing and we felt pretty cheated. See photos - only marked drinks are included. Generally I would say that although pretty, this is not a 5-star hotel, and really shouldn’t claim to be or charge 5-star prices.

I recently came to stay at the kwanza resort by sunrise in Zanzibar. While a beautiful location and most welcoming stay, I experience some bad service, that of which I didn’t expect for the money I paid for the hotel. My main issue was the waiting time for everything from the coffee in the mornings to the room service in the evenings, at one point even had to wait over 2 hours for a cup of coffee, which is ludicrous. Also, I had a discount code because I booked with Expedia, which was not honoured and the individual I spoke to, was extremely rude about, he made an arrange to meet at the reception to discuss my bill and what he can do and then didn’t come and then was extremely rude to me on the phone. There was a cockroach in one of the rooms and the air conditioning was not working in another. It was getting ridiculous. I left with a sour taste, also my sister, who came on the trip is a journalist, she has written for ELLE, Vogue, Marie Claire, Harpers Bazaar was planning on featuring the resort, is now quite disappointed. The best time were the staff who were incredibly accommodating and worked super hard to make our stay the best it could be

We learnt Kwanza is “the first” in Swahili language, and in reality it was. Our experience was amazing. From the comfort of our chalet to the pristine landscape and exterior and the dining variety, it could not have been any better. The daily show by the poolside was an extra add-on that kept our daughters waiting for it every evening.. from live music, to local dance it was very original and engaging. Many thanks to all the staff for being so attentive, friendly and welcoming.. Mr. Riyab, Mr. Rajabu, Ms. Mariam and all the other members were so kind and helpful.

The resort is stunning, and our swim up, ocean view rooms (we were upgraded) were fantastic. The hotel is brand new, and was quiet whilst we were there, the food was variable, but largely good, and all the staff were lovely, and could not do enough for you. The resort itself is quite remote, but still perfect for a relaxing break with a choice of several restaurants and bars on site, as well as a spa, gym and yoga area.
