Great hotel and restaurant, friendly and helpful staff, clean

The Den is located in an excellent area, making commuting very convenient. The hotel has a distinct European influence in its design, yet the rooms are noticeably more spacious and offer more amenities than many hotels in Europe. The shower water pressure is outstanding, and the hot water supply is consistently excellent—both of which added greatly to the comfort of the stay. One area for improvement is in the hotel’s operational systems. Upon checkout, I was presented with a bill showing outstanding room charges, despite having fully prepaid for my booking through Expedia. In addition, each time I left the hotel, security would ask whether I had signed out, which became repetitive and somewhat frustrating. Strengthening these processes would significantly enhance the overall guest experience.

The staff were super friendly and couldn’t do more for us! So pleased we stayed here for our time in Colombo. The hotel is so well situated too!

I’d highly recommend this place! It’s an unassuming spot but the rooftop has an absolutely spectacular view with an incredible restaurant. I had the best seafood pasta I’ve ever had there; each meal was truly amazing. The staff are so, so kind and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious, and had everything I needed. I only spent a night here but I wish I had stayed longer simply because I enjoyed this hotel so much.

Everything was perfect! The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The accommodation is lovely and the breakfast was great too.

My second stay. Great. Felt like home. International outlets. Comfortable, clean beds. Spacious rooms. No weird smells, mostly. Good furniture. Restaurant on the roof. No eating in the rooms. Wonderful staff all around! Pretty good, if your first stop in Sri Lanka.

Clean, comfy, spacious room! Clean bathroom with great shower pressure and temp. Not much storage space. Nice solid desk and chair; furniture. WiFi kept dropping--almost four times a day. However, I've stayed here before; and, it wasn't and issue before. No food allowed in rooms! Roof top restaurant. Rice-heavy menu with a few international options and separate cafe menu. Covered seating area is available. Hotel felt like home. Some of the best staff I've ever met! Warm and courteous. Well worth the price. Thanks!

Great for a convenient, not-too-touristy stay upon arriving in Colombo. The hotel is hidden and quiet and the staff is extremely hospitable. Rooftop views for the restaurant are the highlight.
