This hotel is in a great location in the heart of the old quarter of Bilbao. It’s also within easy walking distance of the museum, along the river, and the main shopping district. We arrived a couple of hours before check-in time and were able to leave our luggage with the reception staff, while we had a walk around Bilbao. When we returned later, our luggage had been taken up to our room. The hotel is boutique -style, in an old building that has been given a contemporary makeover internally. We found our room very comfortable and clean, and we were given a couple of cans of complimentary soft drinks, and beer (which don’t get replaced for free once you’ve drunk them), but water is topped up daily, foc. We were also given a voucher for a drink in the bar. I particularly liked the large bathroom with L’occitane toiletries, and the little Juliet balcony, which overlooked one of the old side streets (so it can get a little noisy with bar noise, at night). We had good weather during our stay and it was nice to be able to open the large windows to let air in. The air-con was very quiet during the night, and the layout of the bedrooms meant we didn’t really hear much noise from any neighbouring rooms. There is also a safe in each room, which is always useful for securing valuables/passports etc. The reception staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. On our last day, they allowed us to store our luggage, following check-out, until we needed to collect it late afternoon.

The staff was very good and welcoming. The hotel is in a great location for visiting old town and 20 minute walk along the river to Guggenheim. The room is not very comfortable and the bathroom is incredibly small and difficult hard to have your personal toiletries out, the coffee machine is in very small space and not easy to fill tank. It is an industrial style hotel but rooms could be more user friendly.

Easy to navigate the city from this property. This is the old part of Bilbao and it is lovely. The mistake we made was to shop and tour the newer and trendier part of the city. The old city is a great experience and wonderful shops and restaurants. Anyway, loved the staff and the shower and beds were amazing. The hotel is small and well preserved. It is a little loud from the fifth floor facing the street, but we loved the stay and friendliness of all the people. Would love to come back soon.

We loved our stay at Hotel Tayko. The room was bright and had a fabulous view of the river. The staff was uniformly terrific and it was a treat to have breakfast in a Michelin Star restaurant. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location, close to everything. Friendly, helpful staff. Welcome drinks and complementary food and drinks at their excellent bar was a great surprise. Upgrading to river view was a smart move as it gave a nice view and lots of light. Nice to have a gym as well. All in all, a great experience, highly recommend!

Excellent hotel in terms of: location, cleanliness, staff, comfort. We arrived by car to the hotel but couldn’t park in front of or near the hotel due to lacking any parking/stopping spots. The train/bus station near the hotel (across the river) is a little sketchy at night. Staff were amazing, they suggested dining restaurants and offered to make reservations for us. They offer free water bottles in the room and they replenish them daily.

The hotel was located well as far as restaurants and shopping, however, I will say that because it is close to bars, and restaurants, it was extremely loud the first night which was a Saturday. We never ate at the restaurant, because it never seemed to be open while we were there. We did have wine in the bar a couple of times.

I would give this hotel more than five stars if I could. Everything was exemplary, from the spotless room (with a little balcony) to the perfect location to the wonderful staff, especially the staff member who checked me in and then always had answers to my questions (unfortunately I did not get her name because she is fantastic). This is an excellent hotel.
