The place is great, the pool, location, the design, everything is so nice BUT the check in. And to lock your room you have to turn the handle up, lock it and then let go (it was a little tricky to figure this out). Beside that I really recommend station here, it is quiet, near a lot of places, clean and super pretty.

My boyfriend and I stayed in a room here for a weekend and we actually enjoyed it. The location was honestly perfect, the beach was a 5 minute walk, tons of food and stores everywhere, and came with netflix. I also liked how small and cute the room was. Place was clean but could have been cleaner tbh. Also, loved the tile on the floor, but did not love the open shower concept. Water got everywhere. I would recommend a stay here specially for couples, but just bring your own cleaning supplies and and be ready to search for towels cuz there's not really any housekeeping contact.

Very spacious room. Very kind staff. The full kitchen is outdoors and a shared space. Comes with free drinks. The bathroom window has no curtains or blinds. Parking is street parking. Pool was great, but there are not lawn chairs.

Great location within walking distance of the beach and nearby restaurants/nightlife. We didn’t use the pool but the shared lounge area was nice. The pool was underwhelming compared to photos. The doors to the rooms were very tricky to lock. Also, although the rooms were clean they could use hooks to hang towels as well as additional storage space in the room. Everyone was very friendly and helpful! Overall, great place if you’re looking for a less expensive option.

Steps from the beach, thought it’s a little inconvenient without front desk, but overall it was good

Perfect location. A block away from the beach and lots of restaurants and shops in the area. The room was modern and very clean with plush mattress and pillows. Had a nice pool and seating area to just relax. Will be back for sure !

The most disappointing aspect of this property is that it lacks a backup generator in case of power outages, a common occurrence in P.R., and occurred during our stay. We were without power for the better part of 2 days out of 3 we stayed there. It is unacceptable that a hospitality business would not have a backup power. Further, the lack of power compromised the security gate to the premises. My attempt to contact the owner/ operator about a refund or their policy regarding such remained unanswered. Finally, they provide 2 towels for the entirety of our stay, 3 days, so housekeeping is pretty much a joke. I would never recommend this so -called hotel /guest house to anyone. I would look elsewhere if I were you.

It was overall pleasant. Minimalistic setting but convenient

Loved the entire stay and it was close to everything we needed

We enjoyed our time at Mare and had a very good experience. The one issue is that what you see in the pictures is not necessarily what you will get and the rooms vary greatly. Some had a refrigerator, others didn't; some had shelves and spacious bathrooms; our room had only a clothes rack with 5 hangers and you could only fit one person in the bathroom at a time. Only one room had a luggage rack so most of us lived out of our suitcase on the floor. The pool picture is not of the pool at Mare, although the pool was lovely. Overall I recommend it. We had a great stay and the staff who worked during the day were helpful. Just temper your expectations for the room you are assigned.

I booked through Expedia, but upon arrival, I discovered there was no reception by the building or entrance. As I hadn't received a code to access the gate, I had to call the hotel for assistance. The employee I spoke with instructed me to create a user account on Expedia to obtain the code, even though I hadn't received any code initially. Despite attempting to call back seven times, I had no luck reaching them. Suddenly, I received another call apologizing for not receiving my billing information from Expedia. To proceed, they requested that I email a picture of my credit card. It's important to note that it's not advisable to send credit card information via email. As a result, they eventually canceled my reservation. Ironically, the only positive outcome was that I had to find another hotel at 6 pm.

For starters this is not your average hotel, more like a motel room. minus a fridge or microwave. Just white cement walls that felt like a box. There are no amenities other than that pool that I never seen anyone inside of, so I stayed away. Hair was everywhere, bathroom, sheets. You can’t hide much using white sheets The AC remote was a universal remote and not connected to the ac. We had to program it from codes we looked up. It’s in the 80s in PR. So an ac set on 80 was not going to work, I’m glad we even figure out what was going on with the air. The shower is more like a very low pressure sprinkler. The best part of this place is that it’s close to everything. I have no idea why they installed these door knobs on these doors, that felt like a whole maze to use. The email said it was European, idk I’ve been to London and never seen such a difficult knob. Overall We made the best of it, it’s amazing what you can get use to.

Do not recommend! This is not a typical hotel it’s more of an Airbnb style. We booked for three nights and only stayed two because we felt so uncomfortable. First night-When we arrived we got in at around 2 am. The floors and side tables were dirty and there was hair on the bed. It was 2 so I couldn’t reach out to anyone for help. We cleaned what was bothering us. Second night- At 3 am there was banging on our door so loud we thought it was an emergency. Our “neighbors” were pounding on all the doors.We reached out to the contact given to us and no response. I texted the contact given to me. When I expressed my concerns they were dismissive until I mentioned the hair on the bed and they gave us the code to another room which was in better condition. It was our last night anyways. We did not feel safe at the hotel anymore and found somewhere else to sleep… Overall do not recommend and are non refundable for a reason! Also picture attached is the face of a lady who’s was completely rude to us and insulted us

I've stayed at Mare for 5 different weeks this year, staying a different rooms (#33, 32, 27, 22, 21). It's my go to place in San Juan. Having traveled for 30 years on business, Mare meets and exceeds my expectations. For the rate, you cannot find a better deal. The hotel is clean, modern furnishings and has all you need if looking for a basic service hotel and not wanting to pay resort fees and other hidden costs. It is located on great, quiet residential street. You can feel like a local. Once you find your morning coffee and breakfast hangout (Regina across the street), you can head out to the beach (down the street) or venture further to Condado (walking 10 to 15 mins). I rent a car while in Puerto Rico and have no trouble finding street parking (avoid exorbitant hotel overnight parking fees). If you are expecting a pool boy or room service, this is not your place.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Close to the airport, super close to the beach, lots to eat around in the area. If you want to visit other parts of the city, it’s pretty easy with Uber (most rides were about $5). Think about this place like a mix between a boutique hotel and an Airbnb. The kitchen you see is outdoors and shared and I loved that unique touch. There are two fridges, a restroom, and a laundry room all in the open space. staying here gave us a unique perspective on the area- we met some great neighbors who were staying at the mare. Although the staff you see primarily on location speak Spanish- they were extremely helpful and patient with the language barrier. My only suggestion would be to add a foot wash somewhere in the area.. I could tell people were using the pool to rinse sand off after visiting the beach. If you can, definitely book a room with a terrace- that was my favorite part. Would definitely stay here again!

I liked that I was given a very nice new room right away once I informed them that the ac was not working.I also lived there was a pool in the property.I didn’t like that my original room didn’t have air for two (2) nights & the room was SUPER small & not modern. I also didn’t like there was no designated parking.

Overall we had a nice stay. The room we initially were given was way too small. It was like an oversized closet. But staff was kind enough to let us use a larger room which we enjoyed much better. I did not like the concrete floors and the ants were getting under the door and coming into the room. The water pressure on the shower head was very low. Staff was very responsive and the washer and dryer was a plus. The location is the best! Literally steps away from the beach and many restaurants. Ubers had no problem finding us.
