The room and bathroom appeared clean but the bathroom had a musty odor. The bathroom window handle was broken so we could not open it at all.

The guesthouse is in a good location if you want to walk the Old Town and explore. The condition of the room was not good. We had a terrace, but it was ripped up, and didn’t even look safe. The walls in the bathroom had stains and it was not very clean. The shower leaked, and the door was painted a cream color, but was almost black by the handle. The breakfast was nothing special, but there are so many other places nearby to eat, so I would recommend skipping the restaurant on the property. The was parking, but it is very small and when we wanted to leave we were blocked in by someone for half an hour before they came back. We only needed to stay for one night so it was just ok.

We thought it was a hotel but it is a pension. The big advantage is that it is only 5 minutes walk from the main square. There aren't a lot of parking spots. There are only stairs to the rooms. There are no toiletries in the bathroom. The breakfast was fine but there was not a lot of choices.

Location was great for what I need to do. The best is they have a little bistro cafe on the premises. Room was big and well kept. There were problems wit the heating the day I was there, which was a sudden cold day after a very hot summer. The heating was soon working and all was well. Breakfast was a nice buffet, the other meals were good home cooking. Service was excellent from nearly all the staff. In particular francesca was extremely friendly and helpful.

Excellent staff very friendly, excellent location, next to the Botanical Garden and the center of Cluj, very clean and pretty comfortable room. The best is the price ( only 40 euro per night the double room ) , in a time , that in Cluj all hotels had very high prices . The only negative thing is that we ask for double bed ( we are a couple ) and they gave us two single beds ( we manage to put them toghether although ).

The guesthouse is very well located close to the city centre and botanical garden. There's a bistro in the garden with a terrace. You can have breakfast, lunch and dinner there, as well as just a beer, so it's very convenient. The building is not new, but the staff is SO nice. The girls working there were all so friendly, helpful and it felt like we became friends. We were travelling with our 4-yr-old son and baby girl and they really did everything to make us feel welcome. Great experience and will definitely be back when visiting Cluj. Multumim!!!

It's up a slope just five minutes walk from the two main squares. It's well run by two efficient ladies with 24 hr cover They gave me a free breakfast My only gripe was that they turned off my heating at night with only a thin small duvet to cover my frame. The second night they left the heating on and gave me an extra duvet.

I stayed here for 2 nights in August 2015, whilst en-route to a wedding elsewhere in Romania. The location (it's on Strada Republici, despite what the address says) is 5-10 mins walk (downhill) into the old centre, and the Botanic Gardens (worth a look, very pretty!) are maybe 2-3 mins walk up the hill. My room was totally fine, pretty simple, a decent shower and I had no problems with noise etc. It didn't have small extras you might expect like complimentary shower gels etc, but that wasn't really an issue. Staff were helpful when I had any queries. There's a small balcony for guests to use, and a fridge on the landing also. Oh, and free wifi, always a bonus. The Bistro (set back from the road just behind the hotel entrance) is ideal if you're not wanting to walk anywhere (although they didn't seem to have menus in English - but I had fun with my phrasebook deciphering it!). Breakfast is served in there too - it's your basic buffet: bread, cheese, meat, yoghurt etc. I turned up towards the end and there wasn't much left so maybe it'd have been better if I'd woken up sooner! You can probably get a better breakfast in town. There's also a little convenience store 2-3 doors up from the hotel which is good for picking up drinks/snacks etc. Indication of taxi fares - my taxi was approx 10 lei (less than £2) from the train station (and a friends hotel nearby was around 30 lei to the airport so I'd imagine its a similar fare from this one).

The Hotel Vidalis does not exist at the address given on the Expedia website; but the phone number is correct. After wandering up and down Strada Republici, we finally called the hotel because we could not find it. I think the name has changed. It is located on Strada Republici, number 25, which is very near the location given on the Expedia website. One other thing that was not as advertised, our room did not have a kitchen; but there was a refrigerator available for use by all the guests. The staff were friendly. The room was nice. It had AC and the WiFi worked well. The location was within walking distance of the botanical gardens and a number of historical sites.

If you're looking for a place to stay when in Cluj, I recommend the Hotel Vidalis. The location cannot be beat, set back just slightly from the very busy Strada Republicii, across the street from the lovely Botanic Gardens, only a few minutes' walk from the center of town, and a few steps more to the Parcul Central Simion Bărnuțiu. The room was tight, but comfortable and very clean. The bathroom was nice with one of the few shower stall doors that I encountered that actually worked. The proximity to the secluded Caffé Bistro 25 is delightful as are all the tucked-away places to write or enjoy a cup of coffee throughout the hotel. The food at the bistro is not the best in Cluj for a traditional meal, but it is hearty with good portions. The bistro sets to the back of the drive for the hotel, with a small view of the busy street, so you can enjoy a meal and people watch at once.
