The rooms were spacious and a nice view of the river. The owner, Alain, made an amazing breakfast, gave great recommendations and was fun to chat with. He has an excellent sense of humour and very personable. Great location and very comfortable. Highly recommend!

Best breakfast ever! Gracious host. Charming decor. Cash only.

We had tickets for a tour of Les Jardins des Quatre Vents a lovely private garden only open four days a year and Auberge A La Chouenne was in the perfect location for getting to it. Our host could not have been nicer, although we don't speak French he knew quite a bit of English and we were able to communicate and had several fun conversations. Our room was perfect, so spacious and comfortable. It had a little sitting area with two chairs where we sat and read or checked our email. The bathroom was beautiful and huge with an awesome shower and a jetted tub. Breakfast was delicious, on the morning of our tour it even included flowers and was arranged beautifully. Nice hotel, decorated with antiques which were very much like home. The breakfast which is included was excellent, lots of seasonal fruits. The homemade cranberry muffins were to die for, wish I had the recipe!

Owner is a delightful person. Breakfast he prepared was superb.

From the moment we arrived for a 4 day stay this June to the moment that we left our host Alain did his absolute best to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Whether it was making cafe au lait as soon as my feet hit the bottom of the staircase, making suggestions for restaurants and points of interest or storing our food in the fridge. But the thing that most impressed me was Alain's sudden interest in gluten free cuisine when he learned that two of his guests needed to follow a gluten free diet. Our room was very comfortable and had a great view of the river to which it was a joy to wake up. If we back in the area you will find us à La Chouenne.

Auberge A La Chouenne is a charming home----- a true Malbaie gem! Quaint and well located in a residential area of town.Breakfasts are plentiful and beautifully presented. Our host was most helpful and attentive to every detail.He made our visit to Charlevoix a truly memorable one.

Owner of this auberge loves his work and communicates it to his guests by making sure of their comfort. the house has retained its century charm, but the amenities are modern. the breakfasts are amazing and the host cordial. the house is well located and the River with its fantastic views is only a ten-minute walk away. all in all, a terrific place to stay and we are planning to return.

La Chouenne us a very lovely house. It is well kept and furnished. The view is pretty good and it is set in a really peaceful area. Alain, our house was extremely friendly and was helpful in getting us oriented in the area. The breakfast was all homemade and lovingly presented.

Nous avons été extrêmement bien accueillis à cette auberge! Excellent service avec bonnes recommandations et hôte très sympathique, accueillant et très bon cuisinier! Nous avons mangé un excellent déjeuner aussi bon que beau avec les yeux!! Merci pour tout!! Je recommande fortement! :)

Le décor de cet maison patrimoniale est exquis et l’accueil aussi! Ce que j’ai le moins aimé c’est d’avoir une salle de bain à l’extérieur de notre chambre. Chambre pas bien insonorisée mais il faut s’y attendre dans une vielle maison. Cap-à-l’aigle est un lieu merveilleux avec une magnifique vue sur le fleuve.

Monsieur Alain Tremblay est un hôte tres tres gentil et il fait de tres bon dejeuner

Nous avons aimé les déjeuners et je n ai pas aimé les planchers craques.

Nous avons passé un superbe séjour à La Chouenne! Les déjeuners d’Alain sont tout simplement délicieux et il nous a été de très bon conseil pour nos activités. Je recommande fortement !
