Clean and peaceful. Loved the history of this place, their orchard, pond, garden and pasture. So sad I did not get to try their cakes.

This is a beautiful hotel in an outstanding quiet location with breathtaking views. This old monastery is about more than the bedrooms. The rooms are clean but basic with no TVs. However the beds are comfy and the views incredible. Breakfast is basic but the breads and jams very tasty. Kloster Kappel for me was an experience more than a hotel stay.

Beautiful drive to the hotel. Amazing views from the rooms. A unique adventure we won't forget. No air conditioning which is typical of old hotels. Only drawback for light sleepers is the cows have massive bell's clanging till dark then again at dawn.It won't keep me from visiting again but light sleepers be warned to bring ear plugs!

Kloster Kappel is a quaint hotel close enough to Lucerne and Zurich to enjoy city life but far enough to relax, unwind and enjoy the panorama. Rooms are spotless clean although essential. Don't expect (at least in our room) tv, air conditioning or minibar. But in summer time the open window will provide a perfect cool breeze. The very good (and free) internet will let you stream on your device your favorite program if you can't disconnect from technology. All in all a great find..

First off, I loved how the hotel lobby staff stayed late (10 PM) as I wasn't able to make it earlier. I called prior to informing them that I will show up late and they were there to greet me! Thank you for the hospitality.

Quiet, beautiful surroundings. Helpful, pleasant staff who recommended a great , typically Swiss restaurant across the road. Converted from a monastery, We stayed in the convent area

A little bit off the beaten track, but worth it for some piece and quiet, and an easy 30 minute drive to Zurich. Breakfast is served in the medieval vaults of the monastery, complete with resident tomcat and seven cheese to choose from!

This hotel is located in a former monastery, in old and tastefully refurbished buildings. The church hosts services however the overall character is not dauntingly religious, and we felt very comfortable despite not being actively religious. There are no monks living in the monastery. The hotel is an absolute gem, especially for people with interest in history. It is situated in beautiful landscape, 30 min from Zurich, close to Lake Zurich, with view of the lovely Alps on the horizon. The rooms are comfortable, very clean, and have a modern feeling. They are not luxurious but fit the overall atmosphere of the hotel rather well. The breakfast is served in the old monastery's cellar and is simple but very very very delicious.

Everything is relatively simple but functional - it's converted from a convent. Not sure if the church is still being used. Excellent staff and beautiful surroundings.

Schwer zu finden in der Dunkelheit, mageres Frühstück, kein TV im Zimmer! Kloster halt! Personal auch nicht gerade freundlich…

Tolles Hotel in altem Gemäuer. Einfache Zimmer sowie einfaches Frühstück, eben genau so wie man es von einem Kloster erwarten würde.

Externally the place is superb. But inside the refurbishment / renovation completely has completely distorted the environment. They put red lacquered handrails, red tiles in the corridors and laminate in the rooms instead of using the natural stone that was probably present before the renovation. In the room there is no airconditioned, nor refirgerator or television. But there is free WiFi. The refectory is asthonishing. Is located in the basement of the church and for reaching it you need to pass in the closter which is very well maintened. Externally there is an impressive garden full of aromatic herbs which worth a visit. The panorama is really amazing. The breakfast is extremely frugal but good. There are no croissants, eggs or continental breakfast. The decision to keep the monastic tradition for breakfast somewhat clashes with the wine display where Amarone, Brunello and other very fine and expensive Italian wines stand out and have little to do with the much ostentatious 'monasticity' of breakfast
