Never got in. The listed hours said check-in until 1am. I messaged the hotel in advance stating that our flight would land at midnight and we would arrive at 1am, which is what happened. Had to pay a local to get guidance from the main street since directions were sorely lacking. Nobody answered the door after knocking multiple times, somebody answered the phone (when a neighbor provided the phone number) and said they would come by but never did. After at least half an hour of waiting we finally knocked at some nearby hotels and one of them (can't remember the name, Googlelocation J2QC+RHP) let us in and provided us a private room and breakfast for $70. I was told the next morning by our new host that the old host had contacted them (not me!) and said we could come by for our 2nd night, but I was not interested after the poor experience. I was never contacted by the hotel myself. Maybe they are better if you show up during daylight hours, but that was pretty bad service considering I had kept them informed as to our plans, and considering that the late night flight arrivals seem to be very common.

An authentic riad in the heart of the old city. Complimentary breakfast in the courtyard was lovely way to start a day of wandering the souks. The staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

A perfectly located Road in the Medina , yet in need of tender loving care to bring up to a descent standard. The owner has failed to maintain this lovely old place as it has enormous potential under the right stewardship.

Terrible riad! Check-in was unfriendly, full payment in cash for our stay was demanded before we saw our room, no receipt possible. Hotel was shabby, neglected, worn, not so clean. Lights did not work, no proper toilet seat. Noise downstairs started at 3am. All electricity was turned off in the rooms during the night so there was no lighting, (we had to use the light on our mobile phone to use the bathroom), power was not turned on again until we demanded it at 7.30am. We could not shower because hot water was cold, it started as just a trickle then none at all.

While the people are nice, I was very disappointed in the quality of the ryad itself. I don't expect a lot in Marrakech, but the room was extremely disappointing. The toilet seat was handmade out of unfinished wood. The fixtures were falling off the wall. There was about 12 seconds of hot water during a cold week in Morocco. I can't recommend this place.

I found this riad to be a calm and lovely oasis. The location is great--everything is within walking distance. Inside, the hotel is very quiet and removed from all the hustle and bustle of the medina outside. Ahmed the manager is very kind and was always concerned that we were having a good stay. The breakfast is good, with more food than we could eat every day and Ahmed was very accommodating to our changing breakfast times. We very much enjoyed our stay here.

We had a wonderful stay at Riad Dar Moulay Ali! With a traditional riad feel the interior is stunning and has an authentic traditional Moroccan feel. The area is fantastic, being so central in the medina did mean we would hear the mosque at any time of day that call to prayer was on, however, it added to the experience and it was just a short walk to the centre square and just a step away from the souks. During our time we walked to all the tourist sites, museums, palaces etc and the location of the hotel definitely helped in our ability to do this. Service, cleanliness etc etc was fantastic, new towels every day, big room, air con if we wanted to put it on and breakfast was delightful. Our host was an absolute angel! Ready to help us out or answer any question we may have. On the first morning I said I didn’t drink coffee and from then on he remembered every morning to make mint tea just for me! One morning we were rushing and he let us take breakfast on the go. All staff were extremely kind and welcoming, always seeking to say hello even if they couldn’t speak the same language as you! I had a wonderful time in Marrakech and the riad and the generosity and helpfulness of the owner acting as our host was just wonderful! I highly recommend this hotel. Thank you so much for having us!

A charming traditional dar/riad only 50 m from the Souks in the old Medina. The rooms are set around a very peaceful and tranquil open-air courtyard, with a swimming pool and small trees. You wouldn’t know that you are in the middle of the town it is so peaceful. Amazing views of the minarets and mountains from a lovely roof-top garden. This is all that we wanted and more. So much better than staying in a modern hotel in the new town.

Perfect location inside the Medina. Quiet riad (unless you stay in the room near the kitchen) where you can relax in the terrace (unless they tell you about that the day before you leave the riad). Huge breakfast. We took an excursion from the hotel which was not what we expected (not their fault at all) but the price was better than outside. Overall, a good option.

Nice setting, better than the average throw-in breakfast. Clean, functional, bed lacking in comfort though. Good value overall.

A cool Riad in the heart of the Marrakesh Medina with friendly and helpful staff. It's a bit worn but a great experience for the price.

The location of the hotel is incorrect on google maps which made it quite difficult to find while in the confusing medina. It is approximately 5 minutes walk away from the spot, which is a nuisance. Upon arrival, the owner stressed the payment of a tax (5 euro/day) and asked us to pay in cash, then immediately pushed excursions that were higher than market value on us. He is a creepy fellow and a bit on the shady side. The hotel manager is a sweet man and very kind, and cooks a terrific breakfast. He is very accomodating and helpful when he is around. The water in the shower takes quite long to get to a decent temperature, and the beds are quite uncomfortable. The safe did not work but he did give us the key upon request which was good. The proximity of the hotel to the square is great, but beware of shady characters if walking home late at night. Overall, the stay was decent and of good value. The place is not ideal but certainly not overly expensive for what it is. The owner is a weird dude but as long as you keep away from him, you’ll have a fine stay.

We had a very happy stay in this riad. Friendly staff, and a peaceful safe place to return to after sightseeing and browsing in the souks. Central Heating worked well, which we needed in February, when mornings and evenings were chilly. Comfortable, clean rooms all open onto the central square courtyard so typical in Marrakech. A white ornate balcony runs all the way around the upper level, also looking over the courtyard. Palm trees and creepers stretch up to the blue sky above, a pool lies peacefully in the centre, inviting you for a plunge at the end of a hot day. Breakfast is in the courtyard is fresh round loaves of bread, honey and jam, traditional Moroccan pancakes, and an omelette straight from the stove. Freshly squeezed orange juice and copious coffee and tea. Dar Moulay Ali is a perfect base for visiting anywhere in the City, with its palaces, museums and gardens. Also the tanneries. It is to the north of Jemaa-el-Fna, and walkable distance to the Majorelle garden.
