enjoyed our stay. Loved the heavy wood furniture, the mosaics and the secluded location. Also the more or less private balcony. Lucky the kitchen staff was around to answer any of our questions and help us with our phone since there never seemed to be anyone in the office. A few suggestions. Screens on ALL the widows would be nice for fresh air and the surf sounds. A few palapas on the beach. Suggest to the maids that the toilet base has a BACK side that could be washed. As far as the restaurant-nice location but need to do something about the menu and who COOKS it.

This property is an absolute diamond in the rough. We spent one night here and instantly added three more if you’re looking for peace and quiet at one of the most beautiful locations in the world this is it, nightly breathtaking sunsets. The staff is amazing very friendly and kind.My one negative is dinner, but I do understand as it is a very quiet small hotel and trust me they’re doing an amazing job with everything they have. we will absolutely return.

Wonderful tranquil spot right on the beach. You do have to hike over the hill to get to a swimmable beach but others came to our sunset beach. Some of the property is older but a lovely new pool and quite fine restaurant made for a comfortable stay. Staff helped with getting us transport back to Oaxaca city making the end of our stay tranquil too.

It has an amazing view, the beach is beautiful and since the ocean is red flag in that zone it is very quiet and clam beach. The pool is nice, it was a beautiful location for us. The room is spacious, but a little antiquated. The windows have very thin curtains so light enters with sunrise. Also all windows and doors are a little rustic so it takes a while for the room to cool, and the first night we had to use mosquito repellent. The towels need changing, they are clean, but old. Womens staff was very nice and in the mornings made a good breakfast, in the afternoon and at night the men staff were nice but the food was no good and were less helpful. Everything was clean, but one day after they cleaned the room it smelled as wet cloth.

I had an excellent 9-night stay. The hotel was so beautiful with the pool, the patio, which is on the beach. Mermeijita beach is the sunset beach and I got to see the sunset sitting at the patio. I also spot whales passing by alot sitting at the patio having coffee or lunch. The hotel is very clean. Cleaning crew comes daily. The restaurant menu is very limited. I wish there's more breakfast items like omelets. They should have a sign at the beach side so people know it's a restaurant and can dine there. The hotel logo is in a very hard to read font so hard to spot. Love the atmosphere of the common area with soft music playing all the time. The lights in the common area seem to shut off around 10pm, which makes it a little hard to walk around. It'd be nice if thdy leave some lights on for safety. I noticed even when I left my outside lights on at night theh got to shut off by the staff. The shower had no hot water on the days there were fewer guests. It seems very low occupancy when I was there. Weekend has a bit more crowd but in general this is a very quiet, beautiful, resort-like hotel hidden on the beach. Way different than the noisy, busy vibe in town by Mazunte beach. The receptionist called a taxi for me when its time for me to leave for the airport. The taxi came within 10 minutes. He was very helpful and very polite the whole time. Will definitely come back and stay.

Beautiful spot on the water. Great place to watch the sunset. Staff were very helpful. Although the road from town to the property is a bit rough when you drive in, it is walkable such that you can leave your car parked during your stay.

Overall good stay, beachfront, stayed 2 nights they lack of staff, I ordered one drink that took them 30 minutes. Not fault of staff who was attentive but I think they need more people to cover guest demands that’s all ..

So fortunate to have spent a week in paradise! Casa Ofelia is off the beaten path, right on the ocean and has everything you need to spend a relaxing week in paradise! My room was spacious, authentic and right on the water! The luxury of listening to the thunderous waves every night was impressive. Kudos to Mari & Carmen for making delicious breakfasts and lunches. Chef Arturo aims to please and will whip up whatever you crave! A special shout out to Luis for helping me along the way. One note, Mazunte is not Cancun, you will not find hordes of tourists, Walmarts, Oxxo's etc. Due to recent rains some of the roads are washed out, so bring proper shoes if you want to explore. It's about a 10-15 minute walk into town down a dirt road with stones and pot holes. Looking for a reliable and honest taxi? Then call Carlos on WhatsApp! He's available for long and short rides and is very reliable! +52 958 111 5328

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Ophelia for three nights. Especially nice was being right on the ocean. A nice swimming pool pleasant surroundings and nice staff. Will stay there again. Close to the main shopping street in Mazunte.

A small unique property on a basically undeveloped beach. The setting is beautiful, the sound of the Pacific Surf a vibrational reset, sunrises over Cometa Point and Sunsets breath taking. Surf is too powerful to get in the water, but walking is nice. The pool area is lovely, surrounded by coconut palms. Yet, they offered no coconuts for sale. The cushions could be thicker, they were quite uncomfortable after a short while. The cons: The staff is very nice, but none spoke English. The food and the coffee were limited and awful. Portions are small, prices high. Oaxacan Food is the best in Mexico and we had it everywhere but Ofelia. Taxi's to and from Mazunte for better food options, or just to hang out, are expensive. Or, you can walk up a steep dirt road. The Internet is only available near the router which is near reception. If these things don't bother you, it's a good destination location. FYI - We have been backpacking the world since 1994. We aren't fussy, but definitely expect more when paying these prices. The place has so much potential, and with a little attention to detail, it could be exceptional.

Beautiful quiet hotel within walking distance of all Mazunte has to offer. On its own secluded beach, which is quieter than Muzunte beach. Awesome food at the restaurant. We had a great stay!
