It’s worth noting upfront that the Strand Hotel is a 3-star property - and while expectations should be set accordingly, there’s undeniably better value to be found in Sydney for a similar price. Access to the rooms is via a narrow, winding staircase, which isn’t ideal if you’re carrying luggage or have any mobility concerns. That said, the staff were lovely and helped me with my bags, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the room didn’t match the photos advertised - the bedhead and linen were completely different, and the bathroom had peeling tiles and signs of water damage or mould. The rooftop, which was a drawcard for booking, was closed for an event. While this was disappointing in itself, the noise from the event carried straight into my room, making it impossible to sleep. All in all, while the team were kind, the experience fell short - especially for the price.

Quaint property with an excellent bar & restaurant on the ground floor. Conveniently located very close to many other restaurants too. Easy walk to the Botanic Garden and the Opera House. The staff was fun & friendly, while also being very professional. When I go back, I'm staying here!

Overpriced for an old pub. Nicely furnished, but let down by cracked tiles, dirty worn carpets and badly scuffed walls. Loud music on rooftop was so bad I could barely hear TV.

Great Stay. The bed was extremely comfy, the service excellent, the included brekkie a great perk and the location couldn’t be beat. Only downside was the wifi was spotty for a teams video call for work, but to be honest, that’s pretty minor since they are a boutique hotel. The wifi was perfect for everything else.

Was frustrating the bathroom door wouldn’t open properly as I’d get stuck in the bathroom

Arriving at 11:15pm I was welcomed + ushered to my room by the friendly bar staff. However when I returned back downstairs it took approximately 15 minutes before anyone came to my assistance. I also rang the night managers number but no answer. When a staff member finally arrived I asked whether I could take a drink to my room. They said “no, we’re closed”. It was 11:30. When a hotel says on their website + in their emails that their bar is open till midnight, it should be open till that time. No cutlery + no microwave if you’re ordering in. Just saying. Otherwise, had a good stay. Comfy bed, good shower, great aesthetic + the smart TV is set up to go! If they can step up the communication/hospitality I’d definitely rate it. But I’d potentially return for the handy location + lovely character building/nice room.

Room is incredibly small, there is no wardrobe, not a single chair. Actually, no furniture in the room except the bed. Practically nowhere to go in the room except to sit on the bed or on the potty. There is no elevator, and you have to drag your suitcases up the stairs. Included breakfast is the joke of coffee and buns. The air conditioner blows directly onto the bed, making it almost impossible to use

Cozy little hotel in a nice location. Breakfast was very "light" but the small offering was good! Tiny bit of noise from bar. Very comfortable room that was suprisingly spacious. Recommended. Would stay again.

Charming boutique hotel but the rooms are in dire need of paint and touch up- all was comfortable but walls in need of paint!
