Highly recommended – great location on the beach; a few mins drive from town but a real ‘off-the-grid’ vibe from those looking for peace & quiet. Room was good; lack of AC was not an issue for sleeping as it was cool at night (might be more of a concern if you were planning to spend time in the room during the day, but why would you in such a beautiful location?). Nice pool and pretty quiet the whole time we were there as there are only a few rooms/guests. Food for lunch & dinner was very good; if we had one niggle it would be the breakfast which was pretty basic and not geared up for vegetarians (one of us is vegetarian and was initially just offered toast for breakfast one morning). Olivia the manager was fantastically helpful when we had issues with a cancelled flight and were being given the run-around by the airline.

Stayed in the one of the semi-detached bungalows. Very comfortable with an amazing view. Pool was lovely. Loads of Hummingbirds around so it warrants the name! The food in the restaurant was ok but not very memorable but there are 2 alternative options within walking distance - we only tried one which was much better. There's just one option for breakfast which did change every day. As there are no windows you and your neighbours can hear everything. Unfortunately we had a very loud couple next to us who kept on talking loudly every day and also till very late in the night. In the end we had to tell them to be quiet which worked only up to a certain level.

Owners are very friendly and helpful. Staff was great. Room was awesome. Great beach. Saw monkeys. Will definitely come again.

Betsy and gary run an incredible hotel with stunning surroundings and excellent staff. They provided anything we needed. Great food for breakfast and dinner, a beautiful property to see all kinds of flora and animals, Including monkeys. They also were able to arrange transportation for us when our flight changed last minute. Couldnt recommend this place enough. Beautiful and comfortable.

Gorgeous property within walking distance of a stunningly beautiful beach.

Betsy and Gary made us feel so welcome and we enjoyed chatting with them. The property is beautiful and just across the road from the beach which we had nearly to ourselves.The hammocks were also a nice place to hang out. Breakfast was nicely done and served to the table. A great place to stay for quiet and relaxation!

Betsy & Gary were the best hosts! They took pride and explained everything from day one at their jungle oasis. The rooms are jungle treehouses with howling monkeys, birds, and the sea crashing in. Their food is absolutely delicious and rotates daily with hip intl staff and guests you can't go wrong. 5 Stars from Brad & Katya. Just LOVE for The Hummingbird. xoxo

A perfect oasis with great attention to detail - the team are dedicated to making your stay super special. The rooms have been thoughtfully designed and the overall ambience is one of relaxation and unwinding. The restaurant and food (quality and service) is second to none. Would highly recommend this for a wonderfully peaceful and enjoyable stay

We were a group of friends staying for 4 nights and we absolutely loved this place. Betsy and team were incredible, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent (breakfast and dinner) and great cocktails! The rooms are amazing - never slept so well.

Gary and Betsy were fantastic hosts. The facility is very well maintained and clean and perfect for a relaxing vacation. The food was excellent and happy hour/ drinks at the bar was always enjoyable, meeting other locals and vacationers.

Everything was amazing - beautiful bungalow in the jungle on the beach, crashing waves, great food and service.

I had a wonderful 2 night stay at The Hummingbird. I stayed in one of the bungalows, which was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Betsy and Gary were very welcoming and made sure all my needs were met and exceeded. They arranged all my transportation as well as a boat tour around the islands. They were also very accommodating to my vegetarian diet at the restaurant. The food was delicious as were the drinks! I only wish I had stayed longer! Wonderful trip!

Awesome. Incredible hosts and staff. Originally we were going to stay 5 days and move on but decided to stay another 5. We woke each morning to howler monkeys and wild parrots greeting the day. Food is great and the service friendly and attentive. We will be coming back. Place is off the grid but you really couldn’t tell other than no AC but the rooms have fans and we had no problem sleeping. Highly recommend Hummingbird

The fact that this review is being written that far after our stay should tell you all you need to know about this stunning property and location. The memories and experience will last a lifetime. And don't let the logistics of getting there stand in your way. The trip is soooooo worth it! Gary and Betsy are the best hosts my wife and I have ever experienced and are there to accommodate the guests with anything they could ever need. The property and surrounding garden is its own little paradise. And the beach is STEPS away! Just make the trip and enjoy.

The Hummingbird was by far the best place that we have ever been been to. The accommodations were fantastic! The hosts, Gary and Betsy, took care of everything for us during our stay. The food was out of this world! Highest recommendation!

We had a fantastic stay at the Hummingbird! The staff and owners, Gary and Betsy, were all so lovely and attentive. The food for breakfast and dinner was a delicious high standard, and whilst ‘they don’t do lunch’, the bar snacks are more than big and tasty enough to keep you going in the day. The 4 villas at the Hummingbird are equally charming, with doors that open fully bringing the forest and beach into your room, and give you a great way to spot the many species all around (We saw sloths, monkeys, frogs, lizards, an agouti, hummingbirds, and a turtle whilst in the grounds or just outside on Playa Bluff!)

Hummingbird isn't for everyone. It's off-grid and out-of-the-way. But it's also out-of-this-world. The essential message is that Hummingbird is a wonderful, intimate place to unwind, commune with sloths (real ones), and fall sleep to the symphony of crashing waves. Highly recommended.
