Run down. Not worth more than $20 per night. No vent in bathroom, things don’t dry out. The staff is nice, the location is good, but that does not make up for the extremely dated look of the property. My room looked nothing like the photo. I felt I was staying at a crack house. I booked in advance for 5 days. Had to leave after 2 nights. The also lost power for about 10 hours. If you stay in the front room street traffic may keep you awake at night.

They ripped off my credit card by $35,(they said they wouldn't but did), they would not turn on the a/c, they would not put a safety deposit box in my room, the door lock was broken, there was no hot water, and the sheets and towel was not changed in 4 days (and was not clean to begin with), daytime front desk lady is belligerent and doesn't speak English, and there is no security.

Not so good. Sheets smelled and hot water was not available. Also, the credit card machine was broken and we had to pay in cash.

Price wise this property is in line with nearby hotels that are in much better shape. On the last morning of my stay there was no hot water which is a pretty basic expectation. Credit where credit is due, the staff was very nice and the facilities were very clean. Most concerning was the manager tried to double charge us trying to convince us we had not paid through Orbitz. Kinda shady

When we got there no one spoke English and it was very confusing. The sheets and pillows must be 10 years old. The owner was rude and talk down to me like I was five years old . Place was missed managed and he double charged me as he could not find my receipt until I showed him when I got online that I had paid and he refunded me in pesos which I didn't want. Very dated and tired.

I was excited to stay here because of reading reviews and being a gay solo traveler. The staff were wonderful. Very helpful, courteous, and thoughtful. The actual room itself was a bit uncomfortable. The TV did not work, I did not sleep well on the bed after three nights, and the sheet selection of the bed was a bit outdated. The room certainly could use an update and invest some money into it. The hotel itself was basic, but cute. I felt like it was a traditional home feel, which is nice compared to the standard hotel choice. I probably won't be staying here next time, unless there is some improvements, but thank you staff for making the stay more comfortable with your hospitality :)

This is not a luxury 4 Seasons Hotel, but it's very well situated, clean, comfortable and affordable. Gilbert the manager is very knowledgeable and helpful, bilingual, and knows the local scene very well. I was most impressed! The hotel is located across the street from bars which are very lively and rather noisy, especially on weekends. If you are not a party animal, reserve a quiet room (not a balcony room), as it can be quite festive at night!

It was a nice, small hotel in a pretty good area. The management was accommodating, bi-lingual, and present. I was upgraded to a better room do to low occupancy, but it had a couple of issues. Lack of hot water, and noisy A/C, and the door knob was just barely hanging on. I would go back if the prices remain reasonable.

Stayed for 6 nights. The room was not cleaned for two days and the cleaning person said he had headache and cannot clean. The water in the toilet was continuously leaking making noise. Air conditioning was not working fully and it appeared outdated. I found many hotels with better price in the nearby areas. Not satisfied for the value. My credit card was also overcharged. Beware.

Gilbert took the time to explain to me the area. I got lost and he was there to help me get back to the hotel. I loved the hotels location.

Great place to stay for a solo gay traveller, and no doubt for a couple. Host Gilbert and his staff are very knowledgeable and look after their guests very well.

I have never stayed at such cozy, friendly, welcoming hotel. Gilbert, the proud owner, activity director, adviser, friend extraordinaire guided guests to the details of the social landscape in the colonial zone of Santo Domingo. Angela kept the rooms tidy; Elido, our night watch person was a sweet, kind, but effective guard. Location, location, location. Evrrything was walking distance from the hotel. Sure, no pool or exotic tropical gardens, but,--mercifully--it is not Punta Cana. Definitely a place to keep in mind during the frigid Chicago months.

It's dry close to El Conde. Lots of shops and things to see/do nearby. The owner, Gilbert, is friendly and cares for his guests. There is pleasant balcony where you sit and chat with other guests. The junior suite I stayed in was quite basic. Things like decoration and furniture could be upgraded to make it better value for money. Overall, a good safe place to start your trip in Santo Domingo and DR.

The owner, Gilbert, is one of the coolest guys you will ever meet. He is also American so he speaks perfect English and knows where all of the gay spots are. My first night I met a cutie and we hung out my entire stay and Gilbert did not trip one bit. I went from booking 2 nights to 5 nights because I couldn't get enough of this place. I will definitely be back ASAP!

What made this trip so memorable is the hotel owner Gilbert. He became a friend of mine after staying at that hotel. The price is right the area OK but the personal relationship is what really matters. I found myself just hanging out in his office chatting about the island about life even went to the beach with him. He is a real cool guy makes you feel at home on his property. I would absolutely go back just for that. He is very familiar about everything in the Dominican Republic. Where to go what to pay. I never paid tourist prices on anything.

The hotel staff were great. The hotel is directly across the street from the two major gay clubs in the area which is great for safety and security at the Zona Colonial is not exactly the safest area after sunset. Do not walk alone at night. The hotel is two blocks from Independence Park and from the center of Santo Domingo, with museums and lots of history. It is also just 4 or so blocks from the ocean and Highway 3 which takes you around the country (west to Santiago, east to La Romana and Punta Cana). The rooms are decent with a tv, private bathroom, queen bed and refridge. The wifi really only works upstairs on the second floor in the common area. Parking is not readily available except on the street. One block up from the hotel you can park on the left for free and overnight. Sylvia is wonderful!

Excellent gay-friendly hotel in the center of Santo Domingo Colonial District. Near all the gay nightlife and fun. Made me feel very secure when they have your guests over for a visit. Also the late check-out option for only $10 until 5PM!! Incredible
