Excellant hitel and staff

Everything was exceptional except the access to the room on the first level through a very steep and narrow staircase.

A lovely traditional hotel with its own historic significance. An excellant restaurant in the best French tradition. Friendly, professional, efficient staff willing to "go the extra mile" for guests.

The hotel has an attractive courtyard and restaurant attached. There is a parking lot in the back and a bathtub in the room which my travel companion really liked. The room also had the interesting feature of blinds that operated with a switch. We really enjoyed the location of the hotel as it is an easy walk to downtown Avranches.

A great find. Charming French quaint small hotel with a bar and excellent restaurant. Very much feels like old world charm. Great location within walking distance of the town square and other attractions. Only a short drive (20 min) to Mt St Michele. Clean and modern amenities. Just be patient looking for a parking spot near the hotel.

Stayed at this hotel on several occasions and always enjoy hence why I revisit

Accommodation was in an adjoining block but it was a super room. Breakfast was good and it was a very nice place to stay.

Great hotel - well situated in Avranches especially with its own secure parking. Friendly staff, nice garden & bar.

We have known this establishment since 1985 and were glad to see it has kept up with the times dining is more than excellent sadly the owner seemed more reserved than in the past.

A venerable and old-fashioned hotel. Many traditional tools were displayed at the restaurant and lobby. The lovely garden was cleaned up everywhere. The dinner at the restaurant was very satisfying. There were a lot of kind of wine and the staff recommended one best matched with our meal. The staff kindly arranged for taxis.

Great place to stay for one night. Avranches is a fine base for Mont St Michel (I don't think there's much to see in Avranches besides the Patton monument). We were the only guests in the hotel that night (winter visit), but we felt very welcomed. We ate both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and it was great - good value and high quality. The room is a bit cramped and the parking is hard to find, but overall it was great.

Excellent evening meal and atmosphere around the hotel

Hotel does not have Air Conditioning. That would be OK in cooler weather if there were a way to open windows without loosing privacy and getting a breeze. There were solid shutters on our ground floor window. So, if we opened, anybody could look in. If we opened, but used the shutters, we accomplished nothing and got no breeze. The rooms could be refreshed. There were old classic style bed spreads on the beds - very unappealing and felt used and old. Hotel needs to switch to no old polyester spreads and just the bed runner that all hotels are now using. Carpet should be replaced with a hard surface. Staff did provide a standing fan. The restaurant was lovely for dinner.

Nice little hotel. Garden was lovely. Free parking was convenient. Dinner at the restaurant was superb.

Great Hotel in a nice town close to Mont St. Michel. Owner/Manager was very nice and helpful along with the rest of the staff. They had a nice restaurant but we had eaten a very large lunch and weren't hungry enough for a three course dinner. Will definitely eat there is we return.

Great restaurant with fine dining. Breakfast buffet with coffee bar and fresh squeezed oj. Small room but vlean. Parking convenient.

Room is very clean and good bathroom facilities although small. Room need airing and was smelling damp when we arrived. Because the window is verify small the owner should avoid decorating with dark colours which make the room very gloomy - deco feel old fashioned and could do with a more contemporary twist. Was expecting a better standard for the price and we stayed in better places for a similar budget. On the positive side, the garden is beautiful.

Hotel was comfortabl, clean, beautiful gardens. We only were there for 1 night. We would definitely go back. Not much to do in town, great as a stop over.

We used to stay in the hotel next door but decided to give the Croix d'or a try. It is delightful - our room looked out over the beautiful garden and was very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and had a very good meal. The staff were all extremely attentive. Avranche is a great overnight stop - the market is good and there is a good choice of bars and restaurants.

Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, the hotel was very clean and looked recently refurbished. The food was to die for! Right in the centre of town, couldn't be better
