We had a wonderful time during our 11 day stay. The staff is phenomenal, so attentive, professional and helpful. We stayed in the Oak Suite and would highly recommend to everyone. The Juliet balcony and private deck was perfect for morning and evening relaxation. The boat cruise was just steps from the Lodge and hiking along the Wye was an easy walk where you could see the rapids and kayaks working hard. Kudos to the staff and management for an awesome experience.

Very happy overnight stay in a family room for a family of four. Very homely atmosphere, the hotel is an older building so a bit quirky but nothing to detract from being comfortable. Played table tennis and pool on the small & unbalanced table - all good fun for non-serious players. Food was good too.

Basic, but well run. Lots of communal lounge areas. Too many dogs especially in the dining room.

Quick check in process. Our room was a family triple room on the top floor. Room ok, 1 double and 1 single bed. Limited plug sockets (had to keep swapping and changing from kettle to hairdryer etc) and could do with an extension lead so can use hairdryer infront of mirror! Shower very low down in height (im only 5' 6 and needed to bend down to fit underneath it). Stair way down smelt of cigarette smoke. Breakfast not included in price and very expensive

Large room with stunning views that was perfectly quiet. I note outdoor seating which was not in use because of season and weather and wonder if it would be noisier on a summer's evening! The room had good facilities - one super king and one single. It was clean apart from quite a few cobwebs. There is no lift at the property so despite being on crutches I had to negotiate a flight of stairs and other stairs. There are no ground floor rooms. It was a struggle. The decor is tired but the location is amazing. The staff were all lovely and nothing too much trouble. The food was good too. I booked with Expedia and my booking showed inclusive breakfast. The hotel does not do this with on line bookings. Whilst they honoured my booking as I had copied of the original, normally they would not and breakfast is additional £15.95. The car park is close but not immediately infront of hotel. As disabled person, I had to negotiate a steep hill up to front of hotel with luggage. It would be quite a push for a wheelchair user. Overall, a very pleasant stay and I would be happy to stay again.

The breakfast was really good. We used to have dogs but sadly lost both of them last year, but what we could see with people with the dogs were well catered for. We did feel that even though very clean a bit of updating needed overall, the dining room was lovely(looked new).

A pleasant stay in an old hotel situated near the River Wye in Symonds Yat. Lovely walks very close to the hotel and some water sports hire a few minutes walk from the hotel.

Enjoyed our stay at the Royal Lodge. Dinner was really good. Everything was dog friendly and even she was given a little meal. Felt the rooms could do with a little revamping but were clean and tidy.

Interesting rambling hotel built into the hillside, resulting in multiple steps up to the bedrooms. Excellent restaurant and friendly and helpful staff. Minor niggles on the plumbing & shower: the cold pipe appear to be bundled with the hot and produces tepid water unless run for a long time - not ideal in a heatwave. The soap dispensers are about head level that make them awkward to operate. A lower location would be better. No basket or shelf in the shower for flannel or own soap or shampoo.

Great hotel, helpful staff, beautiful location. Food was excellent. Hope to stay again. Only fault was non existent wi fi in room. Had to go to restaurant to connect. Probably our room is just too far away from router.
