Nice little inn/B&B in a small town within close proximity to Oxford, London, etc. Ate at the restaurant for dinner and the service was pretty scattered and inconsistent, along with the food. There were all kinds of things out and only 2-3 beers available but there were 8-9 on-tap. Breakfast was much better, so that made up for it a bit. Decent amount of noise between rooms, were woken several times by the person next door.

When we arrived we wasn’t aware there was going to be a village fate on at the pub, we walked into what can only be described as chaos. I nearly got knocked down by kids running round the pub took us ages to be checked in. Asked to book a table for food on the night to be told no dinner menu just a bbq . If I had known this before hand I wouldn’t have booked as this is not what we wanted from our nice quiet country stay, a heads up would of been nice. we both struggled with the bed it was very firm but that’s just our preference. Shower wasn’t great half way through my shower it turned into a drizzle of water bathroom floor wasn’t the cleanest could see lots of hair accumulated in the corners and edges. Breakfast was its only saving grace could not fault that or the service received. It’s a shame as reviews had all been great perhaps it would have been a better stay without Oktoberfest taking place .

Nice quiet place and clean. Room was much smaller than we had expected and the floor creaks wherever you step. Room got hot - attic level - and fan provided actually does not move any air at all but makes the right noises. We also had the world’s smallest fridge capable of housing one tiny 3inch jug of milk. Good breakfast options.

Very nice place to stay. It was very nice to sit in the beer garden and have some pub grub. Food service started at 5:30 pm. Breakfast was really good. We stayed in the Willow room that can sleep up to four people. Only downside was the creaky floor from the guest above our floor. Would stay there again.

Our stay at Clifden was odd. The room was pleasant enough. We modified our booking online from 2 nights to 1, but Hotels.com didn't notify them. Every time we encountered a new member of staff, they would look at us and go "Oh, you're our guests in the Willow room, you didn't show up the first night, and have you paid your bill yet." It was weird. Like the whole team got together with a picture of us and talked about us. We were asked like 5 times to pay our room charge, even the morning after we had paid it. Very unusual. I'm used to Hotels.com just charging for the room to my credit card, as is this why we booked this way. Additionally, Clifden overcharged us for our room when Hotels.com didn't. We reserved two nights at 335GBP, so 167.50 per night. Their bill? 198GBP. The owner "graciously" took off the 10% service charge on our dinner bill, which was like 6-7GBP. I found the whole experience kind of weird and a little scammy.

Whole atmosphere was geared towards a very noisy party-no heating on, no milk for in-room coffee/tea, no new loo roll, limited dining (so went elsewhere). Had we been told there was a late-night party for 60, we would not have booked. Spoke to reception before arrival (3 days before) and no mention. It was a lot of money for a lot of noise.

We really liked our room in what was probably the stables. It was very well fitted out and very important for us on the ground floor,

Lovely property in the middle of the countryside - very quiet and peaceful. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. We had breakfast and dinner at the pub - lovely, fresh, good quality food and excellent service. Oxford is a short drive away - thoroughly recommend a visit.

Lovely 2 night stay at the Clifden arms and we would stay again. Everything was just as described and the staff were super polite and helpful. We couldn't fault the service and the pub itself was very quaint and situated in the lovely Buckinghamshire countryside.
