We have stayed at this property in the past this time we stayed in a different room, which was a little smaller than we had been used to .. but Everything was clean and neat. We did like the patio outdoors off our room. The bathroom had a shower stall, no tub which was fine with us. It’s a lovely rustic period house. Loved that a private parking lot was provided as parking is very limited. Breakfast was good and the couple who run this B&B r very nice & knowledgeable about the area activities. Easy walking to bars/restaurants, downtown area, shopping.

Samuel Durfee was lovely. Heather and Mike are such great hosts and made us feel like we were at home. This is what we were looking for as an alternative to a hotel so we really appreciated it. We would stay again without hesitation.

Delightful place, within walking distance of so much! Room was charming and the innkeepers were gracious. You didn’t see them, but when you needed them- there they were! Delicious, generous breakfast in a quaint setting. We’ll definitely go back!

A last minute trip to Newport for our 1 year wedding anniversary and we were lucky enough to be able to book the last available room at the Samuel Durfee House. This is an absolute gem of a bed and breakfast so if you have the opportunity, definitely take it. The location is perfect, they have private parking for guests and you can easily walk to Thames St for dinner, shopping, sunset sails etc. The breakfast is so so delicious, every morning offering you a piece of coffee cake of sorts with your coffee to start and then giving you a choice of savory and sweet for your meal (think quiche, frittata, pancakes, French toast, etc etc). Found out this husband and wife team have run this charming B&B for 25 years and are complete professionals. Both lovely people who make sure their guests have everything they need. This place was great! Heather and Michael were very hospitable. From check-in to dinner suggestions to the delicious breakfasts, everything was just what we had hoped for. Being one block back from Thames St the inn was nice and quiet. The location is fantastic for walking to everything Newport has to offer. Other than our drive down Ocean Ave and to the start of Cliff Walk, we left the car parked all weekend long.

Amazing brilliant. Great location, great property, great owners. You can’t go wrong staying here. Walkable to town and waterfront. Quiet clean friendly warm. Cannot say enough good things. Stayed while visiting our son at local college and plan to return again soon and often.

Excellent location with free off street parking. Lovely historic home with a comfortable bed and nice amenities. Good breakfast and owners were friendly and very knowledgeable about local sites and attractions.

Heather and Michael were wonderful hosts. My husband and I stayed at the Inn for 3 nights. We really enjoyed delicious breakfast on the patio every morning, our little “snack bag” which was left for us every day when we returned from exploring Newport. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. Location is perfect, quiet but within walking distance to downtown. We plan to return:)

Excellent location near the Newport harbor with parking, and walking distance to the visitor center, shops and restaurants. Delicious home made breakfast daily by the host family, with afternoon refreshment. Very clean bathroom and bedding. Quiet at night. Air conditioned! I would definitely stay here again next time I visit newport!

The Samuel Durfee House B&B is the perfect spot to explore Newport. The house is clean, cozy, and comfortable. Heather was extremely communicative and welcoming as soon as we booked our room. The home is historic and charming and located within walking distance to everything to see in Newport. Breakfast each morning was delicious, and they were so kind to offer several ways to request breakfast given COVID. There wasn't a detail missed. I mentioned it was my husband's birthday, and there was a birthday sign and cupcakes for us in our room upon arrival. We also appreciated the water and warm note wishing us a lovely day on our door after returning from a long day of exploring/walking around. I'd highly recommend staying here if you're coming to Newport :)
